Bought too big a pack of mushrooms the other day (how is that even possible....) so I'm off to chop and fry some up to go with a cheesy omelette for each of us. I should have salad with mine but no doubt will be lured by chips.....
Wondering about what to pack for lunch tomorrow. There's salad makings as well as ham or a nice small piece of cooked but currently frozen salmon. Decisions, decisions.... Trying not to buy lunches particularly as the staff restaurant isn't yet fully operational so options are limited and expensive. I don't mind supporting the local sandwich shop but I'm too lazy to walk across the street more than once or twice a month.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Birthday meal #3 out...one more than HRH Lizzie
yummy halloumi fries, mushroom pie with veg and a mini pud.
Now stuffed to the gills.
Also managed to snaffle a few blackberries at lunchtime today. Bit slow off the mark this year and missed a load which are now all dried, bit cross with myself but off to check out another place tomorrow so fingers crossed a few more to see us through to next year.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Roast pork tonight, was due to have it Sunday but it was too hot, it’s cooler today, will treat DH to a few roasted spuds, I’ll have the rest of the mushrooms that need using.Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Chicken fajitas, using some of Sunday's leftover roast. The red onions, tomatoes, garlic and chillies are all from the garden, and the wraps, green and red peppers and tub of guacamole were all (very) reduced to clear and stuffed into the freezer a while back .... so this is a very MSE dinner!2

Yes, the guacamole has frozen and defrosted perfectly. I did have my doubts, because avocados on their own discolour horribly when frozen, but I suppose the addition of lemon juice etc in the guacamole has kept it in excellent condition.2

I've been steadily eating my way through the fridge bottom curry for the last few days and today I remembered to open the blackberries I pickled on 6th following this recipe Brie and pickled blackberry toastie recipe | Sainsbury`s Magazine (sainsburysmagazine.co.uk)
They've come out beautifully soft and deliciously tangy, my only mild niggle is that the seeds are still very hard so tend to very slightly spoil the experience of eating them. I think it might be worth my looking out for y/s cultivated ones to use instead as they tend to be bigger and less seedy overall but still I'm really pleased with the results and I had all the other ingredients anyway so this was a very MSE make. I did use ground allspice rather than whole berries but that doesn't seem to have affected it at all.
Here they are with my this evening's salad, aren't they pretty.
I love the colour they've turned after being steeped in the vinegar for seven days.3 -
I've been told we're having pasta for supper tonight. Nice and easy but I'll have to ensure I wash up as OH is a disaster with the pasta pot.
it should be breakfast out tomorrow but I've been told that won't happen if I insist on going to the book shop as well and intend to be at work for 11. Just means we need to head to the market a bit earlier...hoping New Forest meats has a decent bit of beef...we've often bought a one rib roast which has then been done on the bbq like a steak. I'm feeling a little steak deprived of late....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
