We ended up with mackerel, not that I’m moaning, it was delicious 😋

simple dinner tonight, DH fancies pie and chips, youngest son is back, he’s vegan, so I might make a Pho for he and I.

DS wanted to eat early as he’s off out to watch footy, he enjoyed it

Cheesy chips down the pub after the footie last night. Something a bit more substantial tonight i think.

I've had a glass of wine and a grab bag of crisps which I'd intended to be a pre-dinner snack and now I'm full so I think that's it for tonight.

We had a bbq-grilled chicken, sausage, burger, and fresh sardines with HM coleslaw and salad. I had a lot of branches and bits of wood to burn so used this instead of charcoal.

As it’s Father’s Day, we’re having DH’s favourite- crab, I also have some prawns and mackerel so a fishy feast it will be, various salads and bread for him

That fishy feast sounds delicious, IM!  (One of my favourite crab recipes is to mix the white meat into a thick cheese sauce, pile it on top of avocado halves and bake it in the oven ... nom nom nom),

Despite the threat of rain we are planning a late lunch afternoon barbecue party to celebrate not only Father's Day but also our granddaughter's second birthday (two already! where did that time go?). We have steak, lamb chops, sea bass and king prawns, and I have just finished making the salads (mixed green salad, potato salad, coleslaw, and watermelon/cucumber/feta/mint salad). The coleslaw looks a bit chunky because I used the wrong slicing disc, but hey ho.

    Oooh that sounds nice CJ😋

In a similar vein I’m making crab Gratin tonight, fresh bread for DH and a falafel Buddha bowl for DS with tahini dressing.

As it's raining and feels quite autumnal for the summer solstice we're having toad in the hole with lashings of gravy, and served with cabbage, carrots, green beans, and any other veggies I can find.

Had cottage pie last night and again tonight.......DS tested positive and got confirmation this morning. He is really quite poorly which surprises me as he is 24 and a health and fitness junkie who runs, trains and eats really sensibly. Struggling to walk to the toilet, dizzy, sickly exhausted and a raging temperature-keep having to change his bedding as it is saturated with sweat. Have opened window etc in his room. Just managed to get him to eat half a slice of toast and drink some juice which is first thing in nearly two days.

DH and I are double jabbed and as I was feeling ropey yesterday I also had a test which was negative thank goodness so it is probably just exhaustion and worry on my part. He works in a nursery and they closed a bubble last week. I work in a group of three schools and we have closed eight bubbles in the last week, almost all children or young staff who have tested positive. Keep safe everyone; this Delta variant is ferocious.
