  • Enjoy it Islandmaid we tried to go to the garden centre yesterday and the queue was some 20 couples deep at the counter and no table service so we chose not to stay, drove to the next garden centre which has a notice saying due to unforseen circumstances they were only serving drinks and cake...we came home and had a sandwich!

I made some spicey Middle Eastern vegetables using ras el hanout spices, courgette, aubergine, onion, peppers, pomegranate, fresh coriander and served with chopped kofta, chicken thighs, pepperoni. Sounds an odd combination but was using up odds and ends form the fridge as my online order comes later tonight and the cupboard was pretty bare.
@Islandmaid and @kerri_gt great to be able to do things again isn't it? I went out for my first meal last week when we were away and it felt so strange.

Little worried about cases today as it is over 8k. I turn 50 in summer and so in August I am going away with 25 members of my family and we have a vintage function room for our private use on the site where we intend to eat together each night. They are all performing a talent night and have been preparing for it, a 70's night where we are in fancy dress and some sort of surprise. I am dreading them cancelling the next stage and not being able to go as I have been planning it for the last two years. Hopefully the vaccinations will speed up. The bulk of the outbreaks are currently in schools......https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/991343/Variants_of_Concern_VOC_Technical_Briefing_14.pdf fascinating read if you have not seen it. I work in a school and lots of our younger staff and children have tested positive over the last two weeks.

@rachsecret fingers crossed for your birthday do.
We are supposed to be going to a friends 40th at the beginning of July, I suspect more than 30 would have been invited as it's an all day / evening do. Not sure what will happen if 21st June is delayed, maybe we'll be told to attend in shifts 🤷‍♀️

Made this  Red lentil & sweet potato pâté recipe | BBC Good Food for dinner with new potatoes, green beans and carrots followed by coffee. Very easy to make as well as being good value for money and tasted good as well so I've added this to my 'repeat in future' list.

We had all day breakfast.  Using the aldi McDonald's hash browns.  I really like them.
  • Quorn scampi, new potatoes with mint and a green salad with lettuce from the garden followed by fresh fruit salad and cream and a cup of black coffee.

That looks delicious, IM. We’ve not ventured out to eat yet, but we did have a fish and chip takeaway from the village pub last night which was great.

Tonight (influenced by the dish cooked by Ainsley Harriot in his TV programme last week when he was in Amman) I am making Chicken Shawarma in wraps with lots of salad and splodges  of garlicky-tahini yogurt.
