  • It's blowing a hooley here too this morning and I suspect will get worse as the day passes if the weather forecast is accurate so today will be a day to stay warm and munch comfort food.  I shall be making Goulasch Soup for lunch which is a lovely winter flavour and always cheers us up and supper this evening will be jacket potatoes with cheese and baked beans with a nice winter salad followed by some fresh fruit and 0% Greek yoghurt.
  • Awful weather here too! Gale force winds and lashing rain. We're half way up a hill with open countryside in front and behind so we we really do feel it!  Never mind, power is still on and house is warm and cosy.  Cooked bacon sarnies for breakfast and my mum came over for a full roast chicken dinner and apple strudel which i cobbled together  from leftover filo pastry and a few wrinkly cooking apples left in the shed (which were lovely once peeled).  Enough chicken leftover for another meal, maybe chicken and veg curry or fajitas plus treat for the doggies.  Not bad for a yellow sticker Mr T special.
  • Goulasch soup for lunch with a roll for HWK and some chicken for me and supper this evening will be some cheese and bacon bakes from Aldi with mashed potato and peas followed by fresh fruit and 0% Greek yoghurt if wanted.

It’s a bit Brrrr today, not sure what to have, steak and Stilton pie and mash, or mushroom stroganoff, doesn’t really matter as the one we don’t have will be for tomorrow.
I ended up making broccoli and Stilton soup for lunches, (guess who took Christmas Stilton out of the freezer ;)) had that with a wedge of focaccia from the weekend - :yum:

  • I shall make some broccoli cheese soup today which will be lunches for the next couple of days and supper tonight will be a root veg gratin topped with breadcrumbs and chopped bacon pieces and I'll pop in a fruit crumble as the oven will be on anyway for puddings if we need them.
