  • Yesterday's yellow sticker meal: 1 trout fillet (56p), 1 pack asparagus (10p), boiled potatoes (10p per kilo)

Brunch today was a tray of Mediterranean roasting vegetables (10p). Might have an omelette this evening as I picked up a dozen free range eggs for 17p last night. Will see what I can find to go with that this afternoon.

We are a bit spoiled for choice tonight, as it has been a cooking day here. I have made an enormous puff pastry pie filled with minced up leftover cold roast beef from a few days ago, mixed with sauteed chopped onion, mushroom , mixed veg and gravy. This will feed the two of us for three meals.

I have also roasted a chicken - probably to have tomorrow night - and I have a lovely gammon joint simmering away gently in the slow cooker in a mix of demerara sugar, spices and ginger beer.

It will be nice to have some pre-cooked meals ready after work this week, I seem to be running out of energy with all the Chrimbo stuff going on!

Last night I had pigs in blankets, wasn’t really hungry and they needed cooking so I picked at them all night, my bad. This week will involve chicken fillets, rump steaks and bacon. Tonight I think it will be chicken fillets cauli broccoli cheese and roast potatoes, going to make a pan of sweet and sour tonight as will be late back tomorrow night. got a good deal on the rump steaks and the bacon will be used at the end of the week maybe a pasta bake

I'm going to try this Budget Bytes recipe for Sweet Crunch Winter Salad, but with almond butter instead of tahini. Will have some griddled smoked tofu on top.

Was feeling a little fragile from a night out out on Sat, so super noodles mid afternoon then a kind of ragu thing that I added chicken to in the evening. A friend is having her house rewired this week so she's storing her freezer food in ours as her electrics will be off most of the week....the ragu was from her stash as payment of freezer rent :rotfl: (plus there was a bit more than I expected so between that and our Xmas dinner in there, it's a challenge to actually find anything )
