I made a meatball pasta bake tonight, with home made cherry tomato sauce to use up a glut and three different cheeses in the sauce to use up some dregs. A few strawberries from the garden for pud.

Well, meal was disappointing and expensive 🫣 proper fur coat and no knickers…. When meal came out on a box filled with moss and for one of our friends a flattened wine bottle covered in mung beans with 2 tiny bite size portions as a starter. When you leave a restaurant hungry it’s not good 😫 friend whose birthday it was was embarrassed but obviously not their fault.

hey ho I’m guessing it won’t last the winter after the tourists have left.

Local steak and field mushrooms for dinner - real food 🤣

So sorry about the birthday lunch,  to be honest I begrudge going to posh restaurants,  I know we have to pay for the intricate preparation (love cooking shows) but it is just food after all and for a very expensive price.  I dont do sport progs but if I did then that would be lovely dinner. <3

Many, many years ago I used to work for a celebrity chef, and one of the perks of the job was to have lunch in the restaurant every day. It was fabulous, but a lot of the time I’d have to secretly scoff my own packed lunch (or sneak out for a McDonalds) afterwards 😂

Tonight I am filling some large Yorkshire puddings with sautéed diced onion, carrots, peas, chunks of roasted sausage, and a topping of mashed potato before bunging them in the oven. To be served with lashings of gravy. It’s still cool enough and damp enough here to hanker after comfort food.

Fortunately my time working in restaurants was pre nouvelle cuisine so proper portions and sensible crockery.  About 5 years after working as prep in a posh place I went back there for dinner while on my honeymoon.  Still an excellent place and lovely food.  The only tiddly portion was for carpaccio which I'd never had before, but it was so delicious a small portion was fine.

Anyhoo - last night was corn on the cob and then burgers which was all lovely if not a little drippy.  Not sure about tonight.  OH got a nice lamb roast from the meat guy and talked about cooking it with red wine over beans but I don't think we have the wine or beans.  I'll go ask if I need to shop (not been for 24 hours....) before everything shuts.

We don’t mind spending good money on good food, but it wasn’t, the only positive was the waitress who was so lovely (and got a tip, which based on the food alone wouldn’t have happened).

simple spicy chicken legs, tikka/yoghurt with remoulade and a jacket spud for him.

done a massive click and collect grocery order this week, which should, in theory be it for the month apart for the odd bit of fresh 🤞
