Been really stupid this week. Have a hybrid car with a button stop/start and I THINK I may have forgotten to switch it off so when I went to go out the other day  NO GO. I presume it is a flat battery so Son-in-l is coming tomorrow with jump leads but it it starts I will have to drive long way to recharge it. So I got soup out of freezer to defrost and take with some water on my journey as I will not be able to switch off. I usually only do about 5 miles  in 2 weeks !!!!  so not surprised really,  lesson learned.  I do have breakdown cover but not home start, usually if it doesnt start I do not have to go out,  only doc so can get taxi or if weekend, daughter. This is only the 2nd time in goodness knows how many years so only do cheap breakdown cover anyway so it would have been a £40 excess even if I was not at home.  Ah well. It means I have used something from freezer as well a defrosted portion of b,beans,  half for lunch on toast today,  the other tonight with 2 defrosted previously cooked sausages, some red onion and half a big jacket potato made into wedges (cooked in micro). Garlic and herb shake on and all ready for the Air Fryer tonight.  Easy dinner. Stupid old lady !!! :s :#Thank goodness I do not have some-one living with me to nag me.

Yes @Brie fresh caught mackerel, have a mate who loves fishing, doesn’t eat fish and will trade for cake 🤣

@wumph the joys of technology 🫣 I remember my first car (old style mini) spent many a weekend down the wreckers yard looking for replacement bits for it, by the end it was more bits than car and it started with a screwdriver if you forgot your keys….  🤣🤣

Wiener Schnitzel Tonight with garlic green beans, wine may be taken 🥂🍽️

The plan is ribeye steaks, pan-fried in organic butter or truffle flavoured EVOO with mushrooms, sweet potato fries, petits pois.

Lovely breakfast of eggs on rosti courtesy of him who does.

Dinner will be 2 types of ribs - beef and pork - with corn on the cob and coleslaw should anyone fancy it.

We had a couple of really lovely fillet steaks from Lidl last night (I was using the £5 off voucher - thank you Brie!). I’ve made a shepherd’s pie for tonight, but also have lots of chestnut mushrooms to use up so may do garlicky creamy mushrooms on sourdough toast for tonight and shift the shepherd’s pie over to tomorrow night, as that may go better with football and a glass of wine.  Decisions, decisions.

@wumph - leaving it on is easily done, I only just caught myself leaving the lights on my electric bike switched on the other day. Glad to hear you don't have a resident nag too, you don't need it brought up for the next however many years.

I had a couple of toasted sandwiches because the weather here is dismal and I didn't fancy my planned salad. Think I might make soup or even a shepherdless pie tomorrow if it goes on like today.

Taking Frank up the downs for a walk, then onto a country pub for lunch, they do homemade dog treats too 🐾

Edit: OMG the best food we’ve eaten out for a long while - https://www.thetavernersgodshill.co.uk/

One of our favourite eateries - if your over this way for the summer, do go, dogs and kids welcome, not your usual kids fair, moules frites is no.1 on the kids menu, but they do a Mac cheese with local IOW cheese too. They are a nose to tail eatery, but cater very well for veggie and vegan too.

we had pork belly bites and mackerel pate to start, I had roast beef, DH had pork followed by a local cheeseboard and I had affogato.

might have to have a little Nanna nap this afternoon 🤣🤣

After son-i-l got car started,  I had to go for long drive so went to Rugby on a long straight road, very used to that,  turned and came back then went to them for a cuppa. When I left I decided to go to the local carvery, a favourite, brought back some beef for today, a little turkey  some mash and cauliflower and a few roasties. The veg has now been whizzed up and in fridge as balls for later (or freezer) the meat is for dinner tonight along with the bits off a turkey wing the chef gave me will add peas etc from freezer. not bad for £8.79,   in the week I just have small plate for £6 odd. Then called into Morrisons for my meds then back home.  Just had sandwich for dinner after that big lunch.Easy day today.

Pork chops and jacket potatoes.  I have a courgette that needs using so might throw that on the BBQ too.
