surf and turf tonight!!  OH got some rib eyes from our meat guy at the market and we've a big pile of whole large prawns that can be popped on to skewers - assuming he's using the bbq.  chips too.

Meanwhile he's wondering if we should go out to dinner on Monday (his birthday) or if we should go out tomorrow for a nice Sunday roast.

Oh and what do you do with a couple of packs of leeks? Leek and potato soup? Delia's carrot and leek soup?? Leek and cauli soup??? We've no need for leeks until next week so I have to do something with them (& a cauli) so am thinking soup prep and pop in the freezer until next Wednesday or something.

Someone gave the foodbank a truckload (well almost....) of leeks.  So I have 2 packs.  Plus I still have a cauli from a week back that needs to be sorted or binned.  I could do a leek grain of some sort I guess.....

    Ideas on a postcard please!

@Brie I made a lovely leek and mozzarella quiche a few weeks ago. That will freeze.

I think it will be thai curry and green beans here today. I'm not a fan so may choose a jacket potato and tuna and cheese.

I'm also thinking of making beef bourguignon in the slow cooker for tomorrow but not sure the inlaws will eat it.  Will have a think.

@Brie - I can recommend both of these recipes Pissaladière Recipe With Leeks, Green Olives and Sultanas | olivemagazine and Confit leeks with puy lentils and leek cream | Ottolenghi Recipes and BBC Good Food has a lot of nice looking recipes with bacon and other meats.

I'm having baked potatoes with various fridge raid toppings.

  • Earlier today I made bread and I had some leftover chicken in the fridge so I just made some sandwiches with chicken, rocket and tomato. Tomorrow is going to be poached eggs on toast for breakfast, lunch will be jacket potato with Tuna and dinner will be beer as I am out for the evening. After that I am going onto a 4-5 day fast which should be interesting, it will certainly save money, although it is nothing to do with that, just an interesting physiological experiment.

I have put beef bourguignon in the slow cooker. That will do for Tuesday.
I have made a pork roast dinner, theres leftover mash so Tuesday will be easy.

I have made minestrone soup, I had loads of tomatoes so they all went in.

Made an apple crumble and portioned it up and it's in dishes with clotted cream. Two went to inlaws.
Finally I made a soda bread, I love that with soup. Half went to inlaws.

I also made a nut roast so that my dinner and used up some camembert cheese.

Lidl duck legs in orange sauce with new potatoes.  OH has some little cupcakes intended for birthday afters but likely we'll have them today as his birthday is tomorrow and we're dining out (nice old fashioned Greek Cypriot restaurant that has been around for ever)
