  • @goldfinches, that looks delicious.  I might have to give that a try when I'm feeling brave, thanks for linking the recipe  :)

Looks delicious @goldfinches. What a lovely idea for a kind of pie.  Will be giving that a go, but may change the cheese to feta, I really dont like goat's cheese.

I made the squash and lentil soup today, probably a bit spicy for me, anything with chilli tends to hurt my throat. However daughter loves it.

That's what I love about this thread, new ideas.

@Brie he must have been so disappointed! Lots of lovely sounding (and looking) recipies,  thanks everyone. I've got a cold, of course I have, it's reading week so therefore taken some holiday. OH treated me to a pasty and a coffee yesterday which was lovely. We went food shopping on Friday and so far are doing well. Chicken dinner yesterday  but had to buy some ready prepared things as I was in a snotty heap on the settee and therefore OH had to be in charge. He can cook a chicken etc but timings really get him muddled. Don't think that's a VI thing but just a him thing. I did manage to make a very quick lemon drizzle for the sugar element. I'm forcing myself to the gym today and hopefully yoga tonight. I'll make a pot of chicken soup with the leftover chicken carcass and then pie for those two tonight. I'll just have some more soup. Got no interest in food. There are gaps appearing in the fo9d stores which to me is a sign my challenge is working!
  • Mince pie today - will be mince, carrot mushroomand and a light gravy with shortcrust pastry (as that's what i have in the house.  If time/inclination I'll use up some apples from my apple tree to make a crumble.

soup and cheese on toast.  we do have some of those "bake it yourself" rolls so might have those instead of sliced bread.  We shall see.

  • I ran out of time to make appple crumble last night so i will make it tonight.  Tonight's dinner will be part 2 of the mince and veg pie with chips or roasters followed by the apple crumble.

OH wants to use a big jar of bockwurst - think it was from Lidl.  Not sure what's to go with it - I've got some of their Norwegian potato salad which he won't eat because it's got herring in it.  I did pick up some coleslaw and some baguettes so that's likely what he'll have unless he fancies making his own salad with the left over new potatoes.
