I made this in the slow cooker but didn't get around to the dumplings so will add those tomorrow before going out for a walk with friends, eaten with bulgur and the last portion of Nigella's softly spiced mung beans followed by a decaf coffee..

Burgers tonight.  In buns - 2 for him and 1 for me, with salad on the side.  Wanted to get some big tomatoes to slice by Lidl had none at all!!!  They did however have Norwegian potato salad - which includes herrings and apple!!

There is only 1 meal for me on a wet grey day like today, sausage and buttery mash! Probably with baked beans! As the oven will be on I have a bag of frozen sausage rolls to cook so that will be done at the same time, we have some cherry scones that need eating so that will be for pudding!

We had potato sliced and layered with onion and vegetable stock.   It has got a name but I cant spell it. (Boulangerie?)
Very close, pommes boulangeres, potatoes from the baker, from the times when the prepped dish was given to the village baker to cook in the cooling bread oven during the working day since a home oven was rare.

Similar to Lancashire Hotpot, which was often cooked the same way while workers were at t'mill or down t'pit.

Tonight was chicken and mushroom pie, mashed potatoes, peas and cabbage.
I had a ready meal spinach and ricotta cannelloni which daughter had bought to take to work for her lunch, but changed her mind......rather than bin it, I ate it. Filled a space.

Home-made moussaka, which is very nice if I say so myself. Bulked with lentils to stretch it to 2 meals but as my freezer is full it’s going to be Friday’s dinner as well.

After rather a large piece of cake this afternoon I couldn't fancy any more than some cheese and crackers and a handful of nuts.
