  • It's been another scorcher here today so I've just had cheese, radishes and strawberries with lots of iced water for dinner.

Last night sea bass turned out to be pork chops.  Which was lovely.  Sat outside to enjoy the nice weather.  Who knows what tonight might have in store?  We've still got the seabass.  But we also have some venison.  Need to check the dates and put things in the freezer if necessary.  I'd be ok with just a salad but I might change my mind later on.

We had a lovely time at the food festival yesterday, met up with friends, listened to some good live music,  sat in the shade mostly ate and drank local food n drink.  Frank appeared not to have suffered after we abandoned him for 4 hours. We took him down there for the evening when it had cooled off a bit.

We’ve got tickets for today too, but we’ll see. I bought most of the ‘bits’ I wanted to get including some beautiful smoked garlic sausage, smoked cheese and ham a lovely Polish guy makes here, also some flipping expensive nuts from another stall - I didn’t expect to be buying shares in them 😳 hey ho you live and learn

A gammon joint was supposed to go in the slow cooker at 8am but husband forgot so it went in at 11. Start of a bad day, I overcooked the cauliflower and burnt the potatoes.
I will make something resembling a dinner from what can be salvaged.

    I'm having bolognese.

I'm using some of yesterday's leftover roast chicken plus some noodles and chestnut mushrooms from the Community Fridge to make some Chinese chicken and mushroom noodles for tonight.

My electric hob is playing up and is most probably going to have to be replaced (currently the front left zone, my favourite one to cook with, glows red and is at maximum heat even when the hob is apparently switched off - I now have to switch the whole hob/oven combo off at the cooker socket to ensure it stays off!).  Am thinking about replacing it with an induction hob as the majority of my pans will work with that, and I like the look of the ones which have a "bridge" zone for using long dishes such as a fish kettle. Also I believe you can get a black magnetic mat to use on top of them, which you put you put pans on so it is easier to clean up. Does anyone please have any experience of such hobs and can you advise what I should look for? Thanks!
