Promised hubby stir fry tonight, going to be a bit cobbled together as don't have fresh egg noodles. Will be either straight to wok noodles or super noodles cooked without the seasoning.

Trying to stay out the food shops as much as possible this month and at use what's already in. Didn't actually overspend too much at Xmas considering the beers and J2O bought (OH likes glitterberry but as it's only available at this time of year I've tried to stock up on some for the summer)

Ended up doing chicken and chips with coleslaw.  I discovered we have quite a bit of old spice mix in the cupboard - I buy a few when I'm in Canada but can never remember to take a list with me before I go and so just buy what I think we might need.  not helped by someone (I'll blame him as it surely couldn't have been me....) having opened a second jar of stuff without finishing the first.

Not sure about tonight - there's 2 pieces of chicken left and we could just do soup and stuff but have nothing breadlike other than a pseudo hovis loaf.

My menu planning is all over the place this week, a combination of (a) still being on lazy Christmas annual leave and (b) having collected a vast amount of free food from the community fridge in recent days. It’s a very fortunate position to be in, but I still have to work out how to shoehorn everything into the already-full freezers.

Today I made two dishes of moussaka and two lamb hot pots, and a large pan of veggie curry. We’ll have some of the curry tonight, along with naan bread and veg samosas also from the fridge; one of the hotpots will feed us tomorrow and one moussaka is for Monday. I’ve also fried six portions of pork mince which had to be cooked as it had previously been frozen, and I’ve managed to Tetris them all into one freezer drawer - I’m planning to do the Hello Fresh recipe for spicy pork mince and rice one day next week (which seems appropriate as the mince came originally from HF - they generously donate a lot to the fridge project).

Large pan of veg soup also made for lunches over the next few days.

Toad in the hole here today, with swede mash, broccoli and carrots. Naked sausages for me (oooh err Mrs)

back to work tomorrow after an extended Christmas break, will get back to meal planning, prioritising shopping from cupboards and freezer this month 👍

I bought a 750g tray of lean mince from Tesco. I’ve cooked that today. Split it so I’ve got 4 meals. 2 bolognaise, 2 chilli. I’ve bulked both out with grated carrot, finely chopped onion and a tin of green lentils. Then the chilli has the kidney beans in it too. Tonight we will have Spag Bol with garlic bread. I’ve frozen the other one and the 2 chilli.
