I bought some croissants in a tin a good while ago and they have been in the fridge since. I had visions of coffee and fresh croissants on a snowy weekend. Reality was toast and coffee🙂.
So today as the bb date was last week, I have used them like pastry and stuffed them with cream cheese and mushrooms. Daughter and I will have them. Husband has a beef stew. With roast potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, sprouts, carrots and peas.
I found an apple crumble in the freezer so that gone in the oven. I've also made some bread rolls and soup with a load of veg from the fridge.3 -
@JIL i have mental images of things like that when I'm shopping, then get home and think !!!!!! was i thinking 🤣
Picked up some sliced roast topside of beef RTC in Morrisons the other day for a couple of £.
It suddenly occurred to me today that for those who don't want a large joint of meat for xmas for whatever reason, that this would be an inexpensive way of doing meat for Christmas dinner. It could be frozen and defrosted for the big day and reheated or eaten cold.
Easily enough for 3 people, possibly 4 with the trimmings.
Even a good way to serve up a choice of meats.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

chicken kiev with potatoes dauphenois. might be a bit of lettuce on the side which is a dull salad but there's nothing other than dressing to go with it. Evening all it’s been a busy few days
tonight we had pork chops, sweet and white potato mash, carrots, broccoli, peas, gravy and I had apple sauce
tomorrow is spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread. I’ll defrost the sauce in the morning. Only need bread, yogurts, spaghetti and raisins this week as the big shop is due on Friday for Christmas. I’ve got enough in to keep us going till then:money::rotfl::T2 -
Was out in the Big Smoke meeting a friend today. After coffee, coffee and more coffee we went for a stroll and ended up at one of these trendy food court type places (think Mall food court on steroids). After almost too much choice we ended up choosing a greek place which was very nice. Followed by a meander through to Covent Garden and down to the Southbank where we had dessert of churros by the Thames.

Very basic tea of jacket potato with homemade coleslaw and a large side salad for us, as I'm trying to clear all the veg from the fridge before doing the big Xmas shop.2

Tonight I am making a puff pastry tart topped with cream cheese, cheddar, roasted tomatoes/onions/peppers/mushrooms and a scattering of mozzarella pearls. Served with a nice big salad. There should be enough for tomorrow as well.3
