Good morning all
shopping coming today but I’m using up what I’ve got in time for Christmas
quiche for dinner. I got a Brie and cranberry one from Aldi yesterday, went in especially for it. My husband won’t entertain it cause it’s got dried fruit so I’ve also got a quiche Lorraine on the shopping. The leftovers will do lunch tomorrow. I’ll do some chips and peas with it

Been away for a long weekend and enjoyed almost continuous fish fish and fish.
Friday night was two types of oysters followed by pan fried dory with butternut squash, carvella nero and potatoes, OH had lobster with a whisky garlic sauce.
Saturday was lightly battered calmari & crab claws cooked in garlic butter followed by tempura prawns with a soy dip and rocket salad. OH had the halibut and chips.
Sunday was more oysters (so lovely and fresh!!) followed by monkfish served with potatoes and a marvellous roasted almond, chorizo & red pepper relish (well they called it relish but it was a puree, full of flavour). Finally had room for afters which was a huge meringue cone with ice cream and chocolate sauce for him and a creme brulee covering an apple puree.
As all of this was taking place in Ireland there may have been a few glasses of Guinness used to wash down the oysters.....
Breakfasts were also fishy - locally (as in just down the road) smoked salmon with poached eggs, smoked haddock also with poached, kippers.....all served with lovely dark bread and excellent butter. The salmon was great with the eggs but also with a dab of local goats cheese.
Interesting thing too at breakfast was the bowls of fruit. The usual mixed fruit - chopped apples, oranges, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries. Plus fruit they had specially prepared - fresh poached pears infused with star anise. Also dried apricots soaked in juice with anise and vanilla pods. So absolutely lovely.
Back down to earth last night with sandwiches from a motor services waitrose and today we'll be having ham and cheese rolls before going out to the cinema to see Banshees of Inisherin.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. OH has been away for a few days - he's come home with McGhee's Crispy rolls - just snaffled one for lunch but can't promise another won't be demolished too. Delicious.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Good morning all
we didn’t have quiche last night. As it was so cold I fancied a nice pie, mash, veg n gravy which was on my meal plan so just moved it. We’ve had a lot of spuds the last few meals so tonight I’ll do either pea and bacon risotto or I’ve got pasta bake. I’ll decide later on. My shopping arrived, just trying to
juggle Christmas things between now and Christmas Day. I’ve got a delivery next Monday and then again on the 23rd. Unfortunately I couldn’t get anything in between so next week might be a bigger one. I’ll have to go into town for fresh items which is fine.:money::rotfl::T2 -
Found a stray large sirloin steak in the freezer, will finely slice and stir fry with veg and egg noodles for them. I’m fasting.
3yo GS said he wanted ‘Neg and Bacons’ so that’s what he had, he mixed the Negs, I cooked them and bacon - he cut the mini cucumbers (his fav) under supervision = scrambled egg and bacon on toast with a side of cucumber and wibble wobble jelly for pud 👍Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Back from a first round of Christmas shopping (almost managed to get everything done in under 3 hours but not quite so round 2 will be required)
Picked up Lidl's kfc and chips plus salad makings plus coleslaw. Also got a premade mac and cheese but also got extra cheese to top it. And a garlic baguette. OH said "ew!" to the M&C so I guess we'll have that tomorrow instead.
Was quite pleased with myself with the big Tesco shop that between clubcard, coupons and vouchers I managed to get £147 of shopping for £56. That includes 2 bottles of the Scottish muck for him indoors that should have been a total of £80 on their own. I expect that will keep him fairly quiet until Easter unless he does a blow out for Burns Night.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
