a stray bag I found in the freezer that may have been diced swede, or pineapple....

OH is currently out being a hunter/gatherer.  (gone to Tescos)

It was swede 😊 though I'm sure pineapple would've added an interesting twist (I'm firmly in the pineapple does belong on pizza camp so it's fine by me in a savoury dish).

Love a Hawaiian pizza me!!!  Then again - it was invented locally to me!!!!

The hunter gatherer came home with lasagne and garlic bread so that was fine by me.  And F&C with mushies for tomorrow so we're sorted.

    Fridge clearing
leek, bacon and thyme risotto, will make enough for GS to have at nursery tomorrow.  I’ll have my favourite standby cheese omelette.

Edit: I (me) ended up with LO chilli on a low carb (linseed based) bun, all toasted with grated cheese, a sort of improvised Sloppy Joe - it was spectacular 🤩

I'm thinking you surely don't put all of those in a salad!!  Or do you?  Or what do you put in one?  My go to is lettuce/rocket/spinach with tomatoes but will also add peppers, mushrooms, courgette (nicer than cucumber), maybe finely chopped green onion and dressing.

An alternative is a pre made "wet" salad - tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions combined with a vinegrette and left to marinate over night - the liquid comes out of the mushrooms to make them look and taste cooked while the tomatoes and onions maintain their shape and taste.  It's great on it's own but also nice to add to plain lettuce.  A variation is a panzanella salad which is much the same but includes bit size chunks of good bread - day old ciabatta works lovely.  Again it's made in advance so the bread soaks up the juice.  Nice to vary it by not using mushrooms but adding olives instead.

I just use what I have to make a side salad - at the moment I have onions/peppers/cucumber/celery & tomatoes in stock.

Tonight I baked some spicy sultana cakes and cooked two veg sausage rolls at the same time, we had those with pease pudding, chopped herby tomatoes, carrots, peas and cauliflower. Coffee and cake after.

Husband had a chicken tagine, which used up some mushy tomatoes and spinach. I had halloumi and big mushrooms. We both had couscous mixed with leftover roasted veg from Monday.
