@goldfinches - that radish soup looks wonderfully refreshing, and the carrot and walnut bread is making my mouth water. I've copied the recipe to my online folder to try in the next few weeks.

Lunch today was a salad (I boiled a couple of eggs last night, and scooped the yolks out to mix with curry powder and mayo), with cherry tomatoes, chopped cucumber and shallot, sliced red pepper, shredded lettuce, grated carrot and grated radish.  The eggs were from my hens and all the other ingredients were from the nearby Community Fridge. (Hurrah for landfill-saving as well as money-saving!)

Tonight I am turning the last of yesterday's roast chicken plus some sauteed leek and carrot into a creamy pie. I forgot to take the puff pastry out of the freezer for this yesterday but no fear, I have done it now and I anticipate it will defrost in 0.000001 seconds. :)

fridge foraging tonight.  the lamb that was cooked on Saturday was finished last night along with M7S chicken thighs, beef and ham (3for£something) and salad.  There's still plenty of the chicken and ham plus salad, cuke, tomatoes and avocados** as well as ciabatta rolls.  If any of those are left I'll be having them as a bacon sandwich for breakfast tomorrow.

**I say to him "do you want any avocado?" Him "no".  So I prep the avocado and put the vast majority on my plate.  Him: "why's there so little avocado?"

Had to do something with the two punnets of mushrooms that had got shunted to the back of the fridge and were beginning to think about going slimy so sliced and fried them in garlic oil with a pinch of salt to eat on cous cous along with petits pois, sweetcorn and green beans all from the freezer. Am now about to spontaneously combust and/or melt so am considering staggering to the kitchen for an iced drink with lemon and lime juice squeezed into it (there might be a sneaky slug of something as well).
I am grateful that my joints are warm enough to move without as much pain as usual but I do wish my face would stop dripping off my nose, it's making my specs slip down and then I can't see anything. Is anyone else finding unusual drawbacks to our new climate?

We were going to have Greek loaded fries but after not being able to find cucumbers or olives we adjusted the plan and had YS pizzas - OH's bbq chicken and bacon, mine vegetable. Just about to have some skyr (YS) with strawberries (YS).

I had chopped up cos lettuce, tinned tuna, boiled egg and other salad bits. Husband had much the same but with chicken.
It's so hot, I tried to sleep in bed, but am back downstairs with the dog. I have a wax burner that sits on top of a radiator, was very shocked to see how much it had melted today.
