OH had been delighted to find some tinned corn beef and decided we should have that last night with mashed potatoes. I did have some of the beef but have never been a fan so it was mostly mash for me.
If I/we can get some lettuce or other salad I'm going to insist on ham chunks (big pack from Lidl) and salad, possibly with hard boiled eggs and sliced tomatoes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Islandmaid said:Was too hot to cook tonight, family had leftover lamb, salads etc made into wraps. I have a bowl of Greek yogurt - deliciously cooling 👍
Last night my partner made a (delicious) green Thai curry but it was very hot (in temperature) and extremely spicy hot too. I'm sweating just remembering it.
Does anyone have other ideas for hot-weather friendly food? Preferably things that don't require ovens/pans/heat to create? Thank you.2 -

As for heat friendly.....gazpacho? Or salads. All of which may get old very quickly. I'll be doing most cooking outside on the Weber, it's even got a side ring if we got for some corn on the cob with ribs or some such.
OH wanted a baguette with his dinner tonight and I bought one at Taxcos despite having some bake your own ones already. @MSE_Laura_F another of our favourites is a whole roast (cooled) chicken, cold hard boiled eggs, tuna, salad leaves, a jar of pickled veg, mayonnaise and crusty bread. Chuck it all on the table and help yourselves. Normally plenty of leftovers for sandwiches and, of course, use the chicken carcass to make chicken stock which would make soup for another dinner with a few bits of veg and pasta in it to pad it out, with bread
also cheap vanilla ice cream sprinkled with a crushed bag of maltesers or similar makes a cheap, easy family friendly pud 😋Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I like cold pasta salad. A bit like the expensive one M&S do. I make my pasta, adding it to pesto and chopped fresh spinach. Served with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes.4
