OH had been delighted to find some tinned corn beef and decided we should have that last night with mashed potatoes.  I did have some of the beef but have never been a fan so it was mostly mash for me.

If I/we can get some lettuce or other salad I'm going to insist on ham chunks (big pack from Lidl) and salad, possibly with hard boiled eggs and sliced tomatoes.

Was too hot to cook tonight, family had leftover lamb, salads etc made into wraps. I have a bowl of Greek yogurt - deliciously cooling 👍
Leftovers-and-salad wraps and yogurt - I'm going to be taking your lead for the next few days while the weather's so soupy.

Last night my partner made a (delicious) green Thai curry but it was very hot (in temperature) and extremely spicy hot too. I'm sweating just remembering it.

Does anyone have other ideas for hot-weather friendly food? Preferably things that don't require ovens/pans/heat to create? Thank you.

I doubt the Thai curry was anywhere near as hot as the naga relish some idiot I live with purchased.  Now I like a bit of spice in my food - vindaloo, extra hot chillies on my nachos, whatever.  But knowing the reputation of nagas I tried the tiniest little dot.  And rushed to the kitchen for the yoghurt.  We both agree there's no point in us keeping it as it will never get used.  I've got a friend who is a heat fiend so may offer the opened jar to her to try.

As for heat friendly.....gazpacho?  Or salads.  All of which may get old very quickly.  I'll be doing most cooking outside on the Weber, it's even got a side ring if we got for some corn on the cob with ribs or some such.

OH wanted a baguette with his dinner tonight and I bought one at Taxcos despite having some bake your own ones already.  Anything to keep the heat out of the house.

I like cold pasta salad. A bit like the expensive one M&S do. I make my pasta,  adding it to pesto and chopped fresh spinach. Served with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes.

Tonight we had spaghetti with olives https://theclevermeal.com/pasta-with-olives/ and garlic bread (YS). Followed by scones (YS) with jam and cream.
  • Chicken breast fried with Nando's sauce, boiled sweet potato with garlic and smoked paprika powder on them with a bag of microwave steamed veg.

I’m making pan fried lemon and garlic chicken breast with green olive couscous.

Raspberries (from the garden) and cream for pud.
