Followed by banana and raspberries (YS).3 -
For the first time in weeks, I am home alone…. Apart from the general housework, I have a day of nothing planned, the Sun is shining, a large mug of freshly brewed coffee is beside me, the starlings are attempting to pacify their fledglings in the garden, our 4 cats are watching them with interest, but are far too well fed and lazy to do more than observe.
I shall have a cheese omelette for brunch, and will send the hunter gatherers out for a takeaway later, wine will be taken - because I’m worth it.
have a fab day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Sounds idyllic @Islandmaid!A day off work for me, and another day clearing a bit more from late FIL’s house. It always seemed fairly tidy, but open any cupboard or drawer and you realise he was a secret hoarder - there is so much random stuff to clear out! Thus we’ll be having a simple dinner tonight, the last half of the chilli I made yesterday.4

OH had asked me to pick up some frozen mixed seafood from Lidl but there was none - big empty space in the freezer. Frankly there were a whole load of empty shelves, freezers etc. Instead I got prawns and he's been wondering if it's going to be a risotto or paella. @Brie went to our local Asda yesterday, was shocked at the lack of choice, I normally shop at our local Aldi, supplemented with local fishmonger and butchers but wanted some wider ranging stuff, which I hadn’t bothered 🥴Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Tagliatelle with a sauce made from onions, cherry tomatoes, black olives and feta. It was simple but really delicious.

Oven roasted portobello mushrooms stuffed with rice, cheese, spinach, shallot and bacon - all apart from the bacon was from the Community Fridge this week, so almost a free dinner.I continue to be amazed by how much excellent quality food is collected by the Fridge, which would otherwise go to landfill. This week they also had cartons of stuff such as red kidney beans, chopped tomatoes and passata (branded as being from a well known weekly menu box company) with a use by date of 2023!2
