    Brie - I have 3 cakes cooling at the moment for tomorrow at SA. Tonight we get a pudding after the dinner.
    I'll be over in a minute with my mug of tea - I'll have a slice of each please!!!

    OH had a bad night due to worrying about his mom and life in general (he's a natural worrier) so has opted for soup and sandwiches tonight.
    Oh, I feel for you @Brie - until last week, this was our life too. It sounds really mean to say this out loud, but now that FIL has passed it is like a huge weight has been lifted from our shoulders. I hadn't realised at the time just how debilitating it can be to deal with an elderly (and very cantankerous!!) relative. I hope you and your OH do manage to get some sleep, because as you know you need to keep your own health and strength up too. Sending you warm wishes.

    Thanks for your kind words.  Yes I know it will be a relief MiL finally sneaks off.  OH is half dreading the mornings in case the hospitaI phones with bad news.  Or that they don't ring and then he's mad at himself for not being caring enough.  She's not a crank but doesn't want to fuss so won't say if something is bothering her.  But she's a lovely person under normal circumstances so it's hard to be annoyed with her for long.

    Anyhoo - off to see if I need to crack open tuna or put eggs on to boil.  Might do both.

    Tonight was HM French bread, slow roasted onions, steak Canadian (cross very fine cut rump) Stilton and various sauces and salads - minus French bread for me - very filling and tasty 😋 A few scallops left from the weekend were seared too

    Our 3 yo GS loved the weekends seafood, so nice to watch him eat all sorts of seafood along side the adults, he just watched us tuck in and did the same - he was a bit sceptical about the crabs, asking if they were monsters, we said yes they are, eat them before they eat you, which he found very funny 😆

    @Brie as part owner of a 90 yo MIL with advancing dementia, I feel for you, they say being a parent is 90% guilt with 10% pride, being a child of a poorly parent isn’t much different, to do your best is all you can do x

    @C_J completely understand about FiL x

    @Florenceem 😍CAKE 😋

    We had a yummy hot pot followed by crumble & custard at the SA last night.
    I took the cakes that I baked yesterday along to the SA today - the lunch & Bible study group has got bigger - but I do have some cake left for tonight's event. I made a lemon + an orange + a ginger cake.

    Delicious, @Florenceem

    It’s been a busy day in the office today, rather than working from home, so I need a quick and easy dinner. I’m making spaghetti with a garlicky mushroom cream sauce, with a slice of arctic roll for pud.

    I need a quick meal tonight as we are going out again to the SA. I am going to do roasted potato bits - got potatoes that need to be used. Veggies in the fridge will be roasted in balsamic vinegar and oil and I have some Chilli Bratwurst - FF to go in a Ciabatta roll.

    meanwhile in our household it's tuna steaks with new potatoes.  the chef requested jerseys but either the tescos is too tiddly or otherwise they are not yet available.
