I got some YS ready sliced cooked meat the other day. It was originally 2.75 down to 66p I thought wasn't too bad...which I froze. Having that with roasts and the last half of tin of mushy peas

Last night we had a takeaway Indian meal ‘bag’ from Waitrose - I had a £3.50 off voucher in my app this week, so for £6.50 it was a nice treat. I find that if I cook some extra rice, these bags easily feed 4 of us.

Tonight we are having lasagne, garlic bread and salad.

Last night was a delivery from the local Italian takeaway. Last time we tried it, it was delicious. Unfortunately last night I had mussels..which were delicious but not so much when I then threw up a few hours later. OH wasn't impressed with his starters and the pizzas were ok but personally i think i can make as good. Disappointing esp as it wasn't cheap.

Tonight was stir fry using the last of the asian style veg from the freezer, some teriyaki plants strips, an extra pepper and spring onion, 10p RTC sweet chilli sauce i picked up a while ago and some noodles. Very nice it was too.

@C_J - that filo pie sounds delectably mouth watering from here, I'd love to see a photo and/or hear what you think of the recipe.
@London_1 - I agree that those spring cabbages from Sains are very good value and keep well too. I used one for this recipe Spring cabbage with mustard seeds recipe | BBC Good Food and it was great.
@Florenceem - that looks lovely, great texture to your sponge, any chance of a recipe please?

I had roasted oyster mushrooms with a few new spuds and home made coleslaw with a vinaigrette dressing followed by some black grapes and a coffee.
4 ozs baking margarine - I use soft aldi sort
    4 ozs caster sugar
    2 eggs
small orange  - grate rind and squeeze juice
    1 oz coconut
    4 ozs self raising flour
    I use a 6/7 inch tin and bake for approx 25 - 30 minutes at 170
I use all in one method so add a rounded teaspoon of baking powder ( recipe was old style creaming )
Just add 1/2 of the coconut to mix and the other half sprinkle on top.

I used up some cauli & carrots on Saturday for dinner with sausages - FF. We ate out yesterday at the SA - jacket potatoes.
I have baked cakes today - ready to take along to lunch at SA tomorrow.
We are out at Alpha course tonight so it will be a meal at SA.

I had the last of the coleslaw which was looking very tired followed by fennel in saffron stock with new potatoes and am just about to go out for a walk in the evening sun.

ETA: I forgot to say thankyou to @Florenceem for the recipe earlier, I might give it a go tomorrow as I think I've got all the ingredients in the cupboard and fridge.

Just back from our first holiday in 4 years.  Well I've been away to visit my mom in Canada and we have been away with MiL a couple of times but as we are MiL's carers it's only now she's in hospital that we can go off on our own.  (she's ok for someone mid 90s and is about to moved out of hospital to a rehabilitation place)

So luscious food was had while away - a bit tiddly in portions at times (other than a dover sole OH had that hung off both sides of the plate) but all made up for by being delicious.  Pigeon breast, scallops (twice!), lamb, octopus (on a wonderful grain salad) and the most delicious chocolate ganache with raspberries one night and a pina colada panna cotta the next - with grilled pineapple!!

But home tonight so it's steaks on the bbq - bought from our favourite farm shop - Miller's in Kilmington, near Axminster.  Not quite what it used to be pre Brexit when they regularly brought in all sorts of French treats but still nice and very friendly.
