I made a dahl sort of recipe I saw on instagram but they used coconut milk which I thought. fab, as I have two tins of it and not a clue, or when I do have an idea I don't have all the ingredients... but luckily I did this time.
It was nice but didn't really look like theirs, I guess these things never really do.
Anyway that was had for dinner last night with bread and butter. Rest will be for lunch today.
Dinner is noodles and mackerel and I'll use up some carrots and any other random veg.3 -
Tonight I’m making a sausage and vegetable traybake to use up the odds and ends of veg - butternut squash, sweet potato, red onions, carrot, red pepper, courgette, tomato etc.2

OH had the inspiration to do a continental breakfast on the weekend so Sunday evening was used to finish off most of the meats he had purchased from the Polish deli including some excellent air dried ham - prosciutto in all but name (which I couldn't pronounce) but nicer. and I got to clear the small pot of leftover goat and lentil soup out of the freezer.
Last night was Aldi pizzas with some extra mozzarella (of course) and anchovies for OH.
Tonight is either cod and beef dripping chips (also Aldi) or gammon steak, eggs and fried potatoes.
As for Berni's Inn - well before my time I'm afraid (only moved to the UK in '85 & again in '94) but I love the price of the dover sole & that it included the roll, salad and dessert.
And as for the Blackforest gateaux.....well please help yourself to my portion as it's not a favourite. I take the line that fruit and chocolate should never be served together. Leftover fajitas from Sunday tonight, not quite enough so I had a baked potato with cauli/broccoli cheese.Books read 2023 - 49/752

Back to my trusty carrots, parsnip and potato mash. Still lots of the first left, the parsnip one or two and I have managed to save some potatoes that are getting roots. However, I was determined not to waste as much as I could. With a peal, most are fine. Pork chop, some spinach and gravy.4
