Don’t remember Bernie inn’s, but do remember the first ‘posh’ dinner I went out on at a well known local hotel, starters either prawn cocktail, melon boat, half a grapefruit with a glacé cherry or a glass of or juice, mains steak n chips, sole Veronique or coq au vin, puds sherry trifle, Black Forest gateaux or cheese and biscuits ie cheddar and water biscuits so not much different 😆 don’t remember schooner of sherry either but did steal a small bottle cherry B from my grandmas drinks cupboard when I was about 14 😳🤪
today is a basic BBQ, burgers, sausages salad etc - if it stops raining 😬Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Normally have a Sunday roast, but having that tomorrow instead.
Tonight it’s Greek night in the motivated house, so we’re having Souvlaki, tzatziki, warm pitta and a Greek salad….I adore feta cheese and olives and drooling at the thought just writing this.

Last night we had chicken fajitas with an extra child here so made double - still got half left which will be eaten tomorrow night.
We have a birthday in the house today which means the lucky person gets to choose whatever they like for dinner, so Pizza Express it is 😋 (have just checked the app and we have a voucher for a free side dish, everything helps!)Books read 2023 - 49/754 -
Wow, love that menu - but can you imagine seeing a 'glass of orange juice' listed as a starter nowadays? I actually had coq au vin the other week at a restaurant - sadly no Black Forest gateaux thoughIslandmaid said:Don’t remember Bernie inn’s, but do remember the first ‘posh’ dinner I went out on at a well known local hotel, starters either prawn cocktail, melon boat, half a grapefruit with a glacé cherry or a glass of or juice, mains steak n chips, sole Veronique or coq au vin, puds sherry trifle, Black Forest gateaux or cheese and biscuits ie cheddar and water biscuits so not much different 😆 don’t remember schooner of sherry either but did steal a small bottle cherry B from my grandmas drinks cupboard when I was about 14 😳🤪
