I have my parents round for the weekend, and I really can't be *rsed to cook today. So will probably go out somewhere now that we no longer have a takeaway to fall back on.

An expensive business eating out, but I don't see my parents very often. So when needs must..

For breakfast I had a fried egg roll (both eggs and roll YS)
Nearly 30 years since I moved to the UK and I still get caught out by things.  When I see "fried egg roll" I think of something one gets from a Chinese restaurant.  I've never got used to calling them spring rolls.  And they're the wrong shape.  And they never come with plum sauce.....

I’m making a traybake for tonight - sautéed slices of leek mixed with cubes of par-boiled potato and some steamed chopped spinach all tossed in a little vegetable oil mixed with curry paste. Roast for half an hour then top with salmon fillets and back in the oven for another 15 minutes. All veg from the community larder, salmon YS.

We were supposed to be at my parents' house for dinner but I'm not feeling well, so we stayed home. Managed to come up with spaghetti and (Quorn) meatballs. Followed by chocolate hot cross buns (YS) with custard.

We had a Tesco finest indian ready meal, 2 mains and 3 sides. I think it was £12. For a ready meal it was surprisingly ok.  It fed 3 adults with a pack of rice and a nan bread, much cheaper than a takeaway.

After a dramatic end to the evening last night (long story but involved scrabbling around in the drive for the stopcock at gone midnight with the aid of our lovely neighbour who just came home from a night out), we decamped for lunch / dinner (already planned) with SIL at Wagamam@. Very nice it was too 🤩

I hope your water (leak?) problems are sorted now kerri, and there is no great damage.

I had planned a lazy Sunday - I have taken a home made shepherd’s pie out of the freezer for a simple dinner tonight - but have ended up spending all morning cooking other stuff anyway! Still, lots of jobs have been crossed off the to do list, so all in all I’m feeling very satisfied.

More carrot, parsnip and potato mash because I'm still up to my ears in the first two. And it was really quite nice last week when I made it. With some chilli sausages (A*da) and gravy. Opened some jammy biscuits the other day, that's an option for something sweet for afters.
