Going to see Death on the Nile at the cinema later, so - with a slightly sore head from last night - have decided that a McDonald’s beforehand is the best option for dinner 😉Books read 2023 - 49/752

Out with friends last night for a curry at a pop-up supper club - it was amazing.
Have just returned from helping to host my grandson’s fifth birthday party at the village hall, and am so exhausted after dealing with 20 screaming children (I need some of their energy!) that I think Mister CJ and I might order a takeaway tonight.3 -
chicken with some bbq sauce (still haven't sorted out the propane so will need to oven cook) with salad (caesar?) and maybe a baguette.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I've skipped the last 10 pages as I'd got miles behind so apologies to anyone that I should have read and paid attention to.
It was bitterly cold here today with a lovely blue sky and plenty of sun but a perishingly cold wind so as a treat after being out for an afternoon walk I had half a tin of baked beans on marmite toast with an egg. I added some tomato puree that needed using up and a dollop of chilli paste to the beans.
Eternal mysteries of the universe - why when I'm so careful not to get marmite smeared onto the thread of the jar and lid is the lid always stuck fast when I next want to open the jar? I invariably have to use my jar opener thingy to help me wrestle my way into the marmite and it's a blasted nuisance. Anyone got any brilliant ways of preventing this?3 -
Hmmm …. apart from wiping the thread with a damp cloth each time you screw the lid back on, maybe stretching a little bit of cling film over the top of the jar and then screwing the lid on?I’m making a steak, mushroom and ale puff pastry pie for tonight, served with broccoli and cauliflower florets which I will par-boil then stir fry in garlic butter.
I’m making an apricot and banana crumble with custard for puds.3 -
Lamb rump steak. There are two and I was going to keep one for tomorrow but a friend is coming for dinner instead so they can have the other one. Mash, carrots, Y/pud, gravy.3

We ended up having duck breasts with rocket and new potatoes last night so the bbq chicken will be had tonight instead.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I’m making up for yesterday’s McDonald’s by doing a roast today - chicken, stuffing, yorkies, roast potatoes, broccoli, sprouts, carrots. Gravy (oodles of).
Have also made an old-fashioned jam and coconut sponge for puddings, any left will go in lunchboxes tomorrow.Books read 2023 - 49/753
