  • @C_J - well done your daughter and what a cool name 👌

DH was in the office late again tonight so kids had a YS pepperoni pizza (I had to go to the PO at our local Tesco Express, ended up with 4 YS pizzas for 62p each) between them with the dregs of a bag of frozen chips and salad. DH and I had breaded cod, HM wedges and mushy peas when he got in.

Congratulations to you all @C_J - wow 74hrs for your poor daughter.

Last night was a halloumi kebab / flat bread thing with chip down at the pub before the football...where out became out out. I am wwaaaaay too old for such things on a school night these days. Consequently I have been feeling very fragile and fuzzy today.

  • Continuing on the (my own) theme of using things up, we had a chicken and mushroom gnocchi bake with a creamy sauce and the end of a sourdough loaf grated on top, along with the ends of a bag of grated mozzarella. Stuck under the grill for a few minutes - went down well with the troops.

I've spent the day batch cooking for my daughter's freezer, now that she is at home with new bubba. Her husband is a very capable cook, but I thought they could both do with being waited on for the first week or two :)

So dinner for Mister CJ and I could be any of the things I've prepared today ..... chicken jalfrezi, slow cooked beef and mushrooms in red wine, chilli con carne, beef burritos, or red peppers stuffed with mince, mushrooms, rice and cheese. Or a white chocolate cheesecake.  We'll see what we feel like later.

@C_J I am sure they will be so grateful. I had similar labour time, ending in an emergency c section and I cannot tell you how grateful I was when my step MIL came round with a cooler box full of freezer meals she had made. Life saver!

For dinner here tonight, we had sausage, mixed mash (potato and sweet potato) and peas. Yum.
