sadly no recipe as I'm lazy. we buy spatzle from Lidl when they have it a couple of times a year - usually when they are doing a German or Austrian week. That said it shouldn't be difficult as it's just egg noodles really. But when we serve them up they are just plain with a blob of butter on them. When in Germany I've had them with a topping of fried dark rye breadcrumbs which is very nice as well. There was a place in Baden Baden that had a huge bread board that allowed all the crumbs to be gathered occasionally and they would be dumped in a pan of hot butter to crisp up a bit. what's not to love!!!
Well done on not needing to shop yet this month. We are having toad in the hole with carrots and broccoli. The toad in the hole is from a kit, from Richmond sausages, that I got for 95p using a cashback app. 10 sausages in it too, so will have leftovers that DH can have for lunch tomorrow 👍February wins: Theatre tickets3

Finely dice a small onion and fry gently until soft and translucent. Rinse and drain a tin of chickpeas and add to the pan, along with some herbs and spices (I used about half a teaspoon each of turmeric, cumin, cayenne pepper, ground coriander, a dash of salt and black pepper, and some chopped fresh coriander leaves). Push it around the pan until it’s all heated through. Use a potato masher to squish it all up into a coarse paste, then stir in some fresh breadcrumbs. I had a white bread roll getting a bit stale so I used that. Mix it well then leave until cool enough to handle. This made enough for two large burgers - press them together well, and refrigerate them for at least two hours - this is important, so that they don’t disintegrate when cooking them.Shallow fry them gently (they don’t take long). I served mine in burger buns with little gem lettuce and a dollop of mayonnaise mixed with curry powder and they were delicious. Even Mister CJ who is an avid carnivore was making happy nom nom noises.5 -
Those chickpea burgers sound delicious @C_JWe had chicken tikka masala with turmeric rice, mini garlic naans and a few Indian snacks I found in the freezer. Enough curry/rice left to box up as a one portion ready meal for the freezer 👍Books read 2023 - 49/753

Turkey curry for us tonight, made and frozen on Boxing Day. I'd like to think that this is the last of it now, but there are definitely more portions in there somewhere. Neverending turkey!2
