We are going to on Sept 18th (cant wait). Ive just seen that Barry Manilow is on for 3 nights at the Westgate whilst we are there and would like to get tickets.

looked at ordering them online but don't want them sending to me as we may go before they get here. On the payment screen it gives the option of 'Hold-will call'. Am I right to assume that means they will be held at the box office for collection?

As he is only on for three nights I don't want to run the risk of waiting till we go and it being sold out as tickets are limited now.

Yes, it does mean that, I used the option for tickets for Penn & Teller at the Rio and just went there early to collect them before going to the casino for a while before the show started.

    $20 at the luxor = u get a smile!! :D:D
That's the same for any property on the strip these days....
I would say, if by random chance the clerk is in a great mood that day, u might get lucky with a $20 upgrade....
Failing that, money Talks, and when it starts with $50 or $100, stuff happens.......

well hello Las Vegas fans. i happened upon a You Tube video of Las Vegas the other day and realised it has been 11 years since i started a MSE thread to bring all Las Vegas money saving into a single thread. it's amazing that that since it's humble orgins (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/338730/las-vegas-2007-bargain-hunt-tips) the thread has gone on to hopefully saved a lot of people a lot of money over the years. I even see some of my orginal text i wrote back in 2008 still in guide and a few familiar names (stoneman, photome, peeblesmax) still helping people out.

last time i visited the Aria was being built, we could fly direct from Manchester with BMI for a tad over £300 (including 2 suitcases) and you got $2 to the £1.

well starting a family put paid to our Las Vegas jaunts. these days Portugal is our place to go with my now 7 year old daughter.

My wife and I have though made a pact to return to Las Vegas as soon as our daughter no longer deems us worthy of holidaying with (or is old enough to enjoy LV) so hopefully this thread will still be going in around 2028 onwards to save us some money. :D
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Hello trets77, good to hear that you haven’t abandoned Las Vegas altogether. Thanks for starting the original thread. It’s been a great help to many over the years.

Hey Trets my old friend, so happy to see that name pop up again after such a long time. Yes you certainly started something with this thread didn’t you old mucker. You still get 2 to 1 on the money it’s just the other way round now!
I think my daughter was 8, son was 12, when we took them to Vegas, teamed it with a trip to LA for the Disney stuff so maybe something to think about.
We’re off to Vilamoura next week for the second time this year.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Thanks. Looks like I bought a duff seat because BAs map was pretty unclear. Hey ho.

  • In Vegas just now. Had 5 nights at Tuscany. Initially wasn't sure of the room as they put us in the middle floor (I dislike anything but top floor there because you can hear people walking above), and it was also A block. The first 2 nights were a little noisy with footsteps, but after that it seemed quieter. A block was convenient, but a bit of ambulance noise at the weekend too.

Then on to Red Rock for 2 nights. Really loved it. The room was really nice, although the decor was not to my taste, but it was generally plush. The pool was also lovely, and we had a great view of the pool and the canyon.

Now at Planet Hollywood for 2 nights. We arrived yesterday and decided to stay at the Red Rock pool after checking out, in case we couldn't get in here at 11am or 12 noon. Really glad we did that, as the pool here is pretty awful. We've stayed here before but not for a few years. They have replaced a lot of the normal loungers with high doubles which you have to pay to rent. The South pool and the wave machine area were noisy and basically carnage. The north pool was rammed, and we had to sunbathe in the middle section away from the pool. I went up for a swim and the pool wasn't clean. Not impressed, so wouldn't return here. But thankfully only 2 nights so only had to experience it once.

Tomorrow we head over to Platinum, and then the next day we take our car back and enjoy the rest of our 2nd week.

Have discovered some different good happy hour options this year. Canaletto, Buddy Vs (both Venetian/Palazzo), and also Lombardi's in Miracle Mile, where we went last night. They have a happy hour from 3pm I think till close. Half price wines and some appetisers for $8. The bruschetta was delicious. Think there are also 3 beers or 3 well drinks for $10, but didn't have those.

It's very hot here. The thermometer in the car hit 110F today, although weather sites are saying it was more like 108F, but it was seriously hot. It's looking to be really hot until we leave next Friday.
