well hello Las Vegas fans. i happened upon a You Tube video of Las Vegas the other day and realised it has been 11 years since i started a MSE thread to bring all Las Vegas money saving into a single thread. it's amazing that that since it's humble orgins (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/338730/las-vegas-2007-bargain-hunt-tips) the thread has gone on to hopefully saved a lot of people a lot of money over the years. I even see some of my orginal text i wrote back in 2008 still in guide and a few familiar names (stoneman, photome, peeblesmax) still helping people out.

last time i visited the Aria was being built, we could fly direct from Manchester with BMI for a tad over £300 (including 2 suitcases) and you got $2 to the £1.

well starting a family put paid to our Las Vegas jaunts. these days Portugal is our place to go with my now 7 year old daughter.

My wife and I have though made a pact to return to Las Vegas as soon as our daughter no longer deems us worthy of holidaying with (or is old enough to enjoy LV) so hopefully this thread will still be going in around 2028 onwards to save us some money. :D
Great to see you on here again.

We took our son for the first time when he was 4.

Hope you get to return soon.

Has anyone done Vegas for a week? I'm considering a week in the May half term, but not sure if I'm kidding myself it will be worth the trip. I usually go for at least 9 nights. My only must do is the Valley of Fire .
    Thanks :)

If you have done Vegas before you will have an awareness where things are and what to do, not as though you are a newbie.

I have done less than a week before now but that was solo where I could do what I please. I wouldn't hesitate at a weekly trip, enough time to chill and do VoF and other things.

Traveller, I’ve never done a week, shortest was 2 weeks, but I wouldn’t hesitate to go for a week if that’s all I could manage time wise. VoF is one of our favourite places. We visit every trip.

Thanks Pebblesmax. I think I'm worried about the withdrawal symptoms afterward lol. It looks like a week will be my lot. I'm doing Orlando in Feb next year for a week and have no qualms about that at all, lol.

I've done a week twice. As it happens, I'm looking at booking for October/November and feel like I want to do 9 days or so but it's not because a week wouldn't be enough, I've just got a Wynn comp to use which is an excuse to extend the trip!
  • 2 dollar beers in casinos royale now. :-00

    Still love that casino.

Stayed in the flamingo go rooms. We were really impressed. Though we opted to not have house keeping for 10 dollars resort credit. However that meant security had to come and look around every day.
  • I believe the 5c beer at the 5 oclock somewhere bar has now finished. Heard it is now 50c. May forgo that happy hour and go straight my favorite bar at the Stage Door casinio:)

Went to stage door for a couple of $2 coronas after we had landed in Vegas yesterday. They have increased to $3 for a corona now.
They still have plenty of cheap deals though, not that corona for $3 is not still cheap. They had Bud light on draft for $2.

Do they not still have Michelob at Casino Royale for $1 ?
