Short trip report.
Flew out via DUB in J. Booking with AA, onto LHR to catch the LAS BA flight in CW. New catering was a big improvement, down to scantly cladded hostesses feeding us grapes while we bathed in asses milk.
2 comped nights at Mirage via MyVEGAS, quite liked the rooms but the casino fleeced us. We liked the pool so much that when we moved hotels we just showed our old room keys to access the pool. Wanted to see Love but it was dark for our whole trip. Complained to management and as compensation they sent Celine Dion and Elton John up to our room with complimentary bottles of water.
The buffet was pants, so much so that they have now decided to offer free alcohol to deaden your pallet.
Moved onto the Platinum where they know us so well that a guard of Honour awaited us with red carpet and the valets scattering gold leaf rose petals at our feet.
Went to see Lionel Richie at PH, had to be moved because 6 drunk inbreds sat next to us and kept climbing over the chairs.
He was excellent though (Lionel Richie not the inbreds, but to be fair one of the women was quite entertaining, but only because we were now not sitting next to her.).
Dinner at MAG, I buy their gift cards online when they offer 3 times points, $200 card gives you $50 in free credit. My dish was OK Tracy sent hers back. Saving grace was they played Time To Say Goodbye @@accross the road at the fountains.
You can also use the card at Maggianos, (we both ate our food there)
Gambling wise we had a horrid first 3 days then rained it back in, lost total about $700.
Didn’t hire a car this time, used Lyft 20 times with a cost of $120 for the 8 days, a car would have cost much more than that.
I’ll continue this later because I keep falling asleep and Tracy wants me to go to bed.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Heading out for my first time next June. It will be his 3rd time. We're going for his 30th birthday staying at the Aria. I'd like to surprise him with a room upgrade, I'm happy to pay if need be, but of course if I can get one complimentary then I'm not going to argue. Is it best to email and ask a few days before arrival or ask on check in?0

A lot will depend on the availability of rooms - if they are having a 'quiet' time they may be more flexible attitude towards free upgrades.
If you get there and there is a massive convention or a fight etc on you would have to pay IMO.
Check the Aria site - I think they promise the cheapest room rate there so you can see what it will cost you if needs be.0 -

hi
have you booked your room yet? If not maybe its worth booking direct via aria prob a better chance for people hoping for a free upgrade if they book direct.
Also a long shot but have you got facebook?( a bit off topic but bare with me)
When my brother and I went to new york back in may i had
*liked* the hotel in new york in which we were staying maybe 6 months before we went and often saw there posts (and also liked alot of them). One day i say them post about one of there city view rooms(prob about 3-4 room levels above what we paid for) and tried to make some light hearted comments in regards the city view room.
when checking in ,I mentioned that we had stayed there
2 times previously( which was true) and i had saw the amazing post on facebook of there city view rooms and if there was any *complimentary upgrades* aviable and the clerk had a look at her pc and well said something along the lines it was early but she would probably could accomadate our request (it was like 2 15 and she asked us to come back after 3pm which we did) So we got our upgrade ! (sorry for the long winded reply)
hope this helps!0 -
TR continued
PF Changs in Planet Ho. Now here is a Chinese joint. There is another location near Platinum but there's nothing like entering a Chinese after consuming 10 Black Russians (Did I just say that!!!!)
Food is always good here and cheap if you remember not to order too much. 2 dishes in total for a couple and you will still be taking half home.
Grand Lux in Venetian, Chicken pot pie, I need say no more.
Trip to Town Square using Lyft line where you might get someone picked up on the way, which we never do. $5. Ulta and Sephoria, then happy hour at Tommy Bahamas for a coconut Cloud martini and some coconut shrimp. #Delish.
Shopping: 2 pairs of strappy heels for Tracy in Macy's Fashion Show Mall, don't forget to get your visitors discount card for 10% off. Nice dress and Betsy Johnson bag at Paraiso in Mirage, and I bought a pair of shoes in Steve Madden.
I lost another cigarette case and lighter, this is the third time this has happened, too much drink and boom, next morning can't find it. I give up!!
Trip home was a bit frantic, our schedule was Las Vegas/Philadelphia (Go Birds!) Dublin/Birmingham. The PHL/DUB leg only allowed us 50 minutes to transfer and the DUB/BHX leg on Ryanair only 1 1/2 hours to collect bags, clear customs, change terminals and check in to RyainAir. This was made easier because our bags never made it to Dublin.
I thought they wouldn't with the short transfer in PHL so went straight to the American Airlines desk at DUB to see if our bags were on the flight. Nope, but a quick form filling and were one our way before the first bags hit the carousel.
Bags delivered to our door 2 days later all intact, except for the cool whip (another story). Phone call from American to make sure we got everything and a money transfer of £50 for anything we had to but to tide us over. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Bobbyhibs- no, we booked package through BA. Did look at booking direct through Aria but just for the room was £300 more than the entire package so couldn't justify it. I've already liked them and started following them on social media. Also signed up with MLife.0

hi and thats well worth saving £300 though !:D
As i ve said above and others have said another point to consider if if you are wanting a *compamentary upgrade*(in theory free) then maybe know what room type you want.
best of luck!0 -
Lady.....
Your option will be to try for an upgrade at check-in, the likelihood of a free upgrade before you get there on rate which is via a broker = I stand more chance of winning a jackpot on wheel of fortune next month !
Options are:
Try the luck by tipping a $20 (which these days, tends to get you a higher floor room or a better view) and asking for any complimentary upgrades...…
Or go balls deep, and slide a $100 inbetween cards and say you would looooooooooooooove to stay in a corner suite, it would make the reason your staying at the Aria extra special (any BS that makes the clerk smile and see they are getting cash)…
It might work, they might just give it back and say "u can pay to upgrade".....
Either way, don't hurt to try your luck, I do it everytime!
Always been a fail at the Mirage mind!0
