I did well in the BHF shop this afternoon. I got a replacement Dell computer mouse for £2 which I'm now using instead of my old one which had a dodgy right click. I then snapped up Jane Grigson's Vegetable Book (£2), hamlyn's 200 slow cooker recipes (£1.50) which includes a lot of vegetable dishes that are new to me and finally Lesley Chamberlain's The Food and Cooking of Russia (also £2) which is an area I'd like to know more about.
I'm really pleased with all the books and am hoping for good reading weather this coming weekend. Off to bed now to finish my latest Agatha Christie, night all, goldfinches.5 -
Freegle bargain rather than chazza but I’m still well chuffed.
My DVD player/HD recorder died and I couldn’t afford a new one so I put a request on freegle just for a DVD player. I was offered one and when I collected it it seems to be a fully functioning Sony hard drive recorder as well. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -
And as a techie I'd be looking at that hard drive with powerful curiosity. In case they'd already stashed a series I yearned to catch but missed out on. (My car boot kindle had The Complete Shakespeare! I'd have given the dear lady a tenner for that alone, but to get it one a working kindle in a protective (if pink) case?! Yippee.) Hoping you find good things, or an intelligently wiped disk.

If they go home and go online and remove that Kindle from their account, presumably all the books stored on it will no longer be accessible?Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!4 -

Nothing wrong with doing an informed factory reset!4 -
Hi
I enjoy cooking & reading cookery books.
I've been hankering after some of Yotam Ottolenghi's books but I'd been struggling to find them on offer anywhere & I couldn't justify the £25+ price tag in WHSmiths etc.
I was in our local Cancer Research & they had 6 of his books for £2 each ! All in good as new condition ! Needless to say I grabbed them all ! 😁 They even found me a strong Tesco's bag to carry them home in !

Seriously, brilliant bargain and I'm choosing to regard it as an encouraging sign that someone somewhere has had an Ottolenghi clearout. Things tend to trend across the general population don't you think, at least that's what I think I notice in the chazzas. A couple of months ago all the chazzas here were knee deep in Jamie Oliver collections and now they're all full of One Pound Meal Books.
ETA: if you got Falastin the hummus recipe is incredible and yes, you really do leave the food processor on for 5 minutes."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Android devices are pickier but when you've figured out where to stash the files (ah, Google!). it's all doable.
An Amazon purchase is usually both in their format and with some whacked out number rather than a nice clear name & title, but it can all be gently batted into something a human can appreciate & the kindle still use fine, just you lose the multiplatform, Amazon-know-what-page-you're-on, function.2
