Starting reading through the posts from August! but there are still 80 'new' that I've not managed.......
I have had a very few bargains lately. A few weeks ago went to stay with a friend in Norfolk for a few days but the weather was so bad that we barely went anywhere! (Charity shops are our favs followed by markets!)
However got a few bits in Attleborough. What I needed most of all was a particular crochet hook as my Inox one (chunky plastic handle with metal hook) had literally snapped in two whilst away . One shop found 2 little beauties- normal all metal ones- bargain 10 pence each. I was therefore able to keep going with a crotchet hat .
I also bought a little bracelet which I am convinced is real amber rather than plastic for 20 or 30 pence. I have still to do the float test.
I remember that shop had p/bs for 20 pence each so bought a few. Dogs Trust seemed incredibly expensive but RSPCA had a few cheapie bits.
Eric's in Mablethorpe (money goes to MacMillan) does a great line in books- p/b- 3 for £1. I went in September and bought £5 worth. whilst delivering a shopping trolley fulls of goodies- and the trolley!
Yesterday got a brand new Christmas design (with dogs) KS duvet cover, with only one pillowcase at a mere £2.50. Perfect (silly) present for my dog runner.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

In The Helen Rollason shop a pair of Burgundy boots with buckles, from Topshop. £3, RRP £85, apparently. And an amazing white shirt with New Romantic style cuffs by Teatum Jones. I imagine this must be a diffusion line of theirs as all their stuff looks SO expensive and like it belongs in an art exhibition. Shirt is fabulous quality and was £5.99 in Scope.5

Trying to update son 2’s wardrobe a bit. He’s got a school place (after 22 months at home) and has grown from 5 feet 7 to 6 feet 2 in that time!
Got this today from St Richards Hospice shop, Worcs. Didn’t realise the Next tags were still attached until I came to photograph it!

Hi, I went to some charity shops in South Bucks yesterday and had quite a shock in one as they had a pair of canvas D&G size 13 (adult) shoes for £100. Now, my son has size 13 feet but for that price I gave them a miss. I think it is the highest price I ever saw in a charity Shop. Can you beat it?

Seriously I couldn't believe the prices on that website and can't help feeling that someone somewhere is being taken for a very expensive ride.
Do you think there are any jobs going where we could offer money saving advice to customers of this type of vendor? I can quite see myself standing behind someone and muttering "One of those costs £1 in Primark" at regular intervals; it would be rather like the slave who told Roman generals they were mortal in the triumphal chariot.
Could it be called "Cost Hammer" or some such expressive job title?
Best wishes to Son 2 at his new school @Frith and jolly well done to you for securing his place.
I'll take my overactive imagination off to bed now and dream of finding a 1% bargain myself.
Night all and sweet dreams, goldfinches.6 -

Just to report that my 20 pence bracelet is indeed made of amber. Worth about £6, so sadly not in the league of the hand grown /hand woven / hand crafted shirt!! Still it is a nice little piece and will complement my genuine amber bought- in - Lithuania necklace which cost a sight more than 20 pence!!
Incidentally if anyone is interested amber has health giving properties. I had a teeny bag of amber chips from the factory (in Klapedia) and think I will try amber tincture. The locals swear by it- and comments were recorded in 12 century! Seemingly has to be Baltic amber as it contains a certain chemical.
Today I am going to see if I can take pillowcase apart (the seasonal duvet set) and remake into 2 pillowcases with white backing. Need to check if I have a new white p/c in the stash heap!! I will have plenty of second hand ones or sheeting which won't really do in this instance.
