A very productive lunchtime was spent at a local chazzer today. I bought a smart Per Una work dress for £3 (I have no idea why, I have no intention of dressing in office wear for the foreseeable), beautiful tailored Wallis trousers for £2 (again "workwear" - who's going to see them on videoconferencing though?!) and a peach raincoat for £3. Plus the obligatory books - 11 of them today - for £3.50.
Yesterday's haul was some 50p treats for my niece, and a book for me for £1 which I can't wait to get stuck into.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -

I've nowhere near that sort of success with clothing!4 -
Found an item on my long-term needs list today in the BHF town centre branch. A Mountain Warehouse Extreme mid-thigh length jacket in my favourite navy blue in very good condition and machine washable at 40 degrees for £20. It is size 14 which is gratifyingly ginormous on me nowadays and is waterproof rather than showerproof. All pockets and fastenings bar one are in pristine condition so I brought it home to replace my 24 year old Land's End walking jacket which is really coming to the end of its life and am looking forward to being less damp on my daily walks this coming winter. Looking at the website, new this could have cost either £199 or £119.99 so I seem to have snagged a bargain there.
Of course there were also the customary cookbooks, one of which has yielded a fascinating recipe for blackberry fusilli for which I have all the necessary ingredients including home made blackberry liqueur so I am adjusting the meal plan accordingly.
Agree with DfV that women's pretty tops can be worn at any time of day or night whereas no man can appear in pyjama stripes after about 10am on a Sunday morning unless convalescent be he 007 or a n other.
Wishing everyone all the items on their lists as well as serendipity, goldfinches.6 -
Had a walk around my usual local chazza haunts this afty and came home with an M & S, fine jersey, long sleeved t-shirt top in cream with a dark blue abstract pattern on the front. I love these tops and have quite a collection tho they are usually come in just plain colours. So useful as an extra layer to wear under shirts and jumpers in winter so I could not resist when it was on the half price rail at £1.15. Also picked up a pair of brand new Clark's sandals in a metallic copper coloured leather - could not believe it when I saw the price....£3.50, and they are currently selling online at £65, (having originally been priced at an unbelievable £136!!). Both items were from the independent Community Shop which always seems to have the best bargains.6

An unused Typhoon wok with lid at our local hospice shop £4. I actually want a carbon steel one but this will do for now. I picked up three books, two historical crime novels and the third volume of an autobiography of politician Alan Johnson whom I recognise by sight from the photos in the book but wouldn't otherwise have been able to pick out from a line up. The Mail on Sunday quote in the blurb on the back says 'searingly honest.....moving'. The words honest piqued my interest. Not necessarily a word I associate with politicians of any political shade these days.

Couple of finds in the last few days. From the big CRUK clearance store, a pair of BNWT M & S burgundy straight legged wool mix trousers, £3, (price tag of £27, reduced from £49) great for autumn/winter. Then in the big Sue Ryder clearance store I found a pack of 3 pairs of white trainer socks, unbranded but seemed great quality, £2. They had another pack too so if still there might pick up next week. Also had my first bus tripette to Otley since the start of lockdown, most charity shops open but didn't find anything. Annoyingly on the bus home a woman sitting in the seat in front of me, not wearing a face mask, insisted on turning round to chat to me. Tried to make it obvious I didn't want to engage with her but she persisted....grrrrr!!!!! Was so relieved when she got off.5

That's good to know. I might hold off to try and find the first two volumes and start from the begining
