Our local Hospice made the local BBC news yesterday. Apparently nearly half the recent donations are unsaleable rubbish and this year disposing of it all will exceed last years cost of 38k.All that clutter used to be money5

I can never understand why ‘people’ are so disgustingly stoopid (stet) Would they buy the stuff? 🤢 There are some of us who donate clean, useable & saleable items 😉 & it is not difficult.I do despair 😩Be Kind. The worst time is leading up to Christmas for broken toys and when the students leave their rentals and landlords dump on us...pedal bins complete with waste food!!!5 -
BIg issue here for a while was all dumps shut. Back log of discarded items being dropped at CS all over.
Had some time alone this morning (kids doing holiday club two mornings a week at their preschool, it's heaven, never had this time without them ever, even pre lockdown!)
Found a new thin waterproof but fleece lined Paw Patrol coat for DS, originally Asda. Perfect for nursery and safer in the car as thin layers not puffy under the seatbelts.
A Superdry T-shirt for DsS, who though turning 14 in six weeks time, is already 5'8" and in a men's medium, with size 11 feet......Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]

I was trudging away from the supermarket still wearing my mask this morning and tried to enter a BHF for a brief look round but the member of staff by the door had to turn me away regretfully due to the numbers already inside. I was glad to see them taking it seriously and will try again another time.
I'm horrified to hear of others experiences with donations and am resolving to be very selective with any future clear-outs/de-cluttering type activities.5 -

@goldfinches - saw similar just yesterday. I was patiently waiting outside a chazzer to be allowed entry (bearing in mind the limit on customer numbers) and a family of two young people plus pushchair plus 5yo pushed past me and walked in. They were turned away for not being masked. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Haha, forgot I came to this thread to post my latest set of chazzer goodies from yesterday lunchtime.
Went to my favourite £2 chaz, bought work blouses from Zara and Wallis, a pair of jeans, glitzy evening blouse for my mu, curtains that match the spare room perfectly, and a large painted ceramic teapot. Then headed to the chazzer referred to above and bought a summer Per Una cotton blouse for £1. That is what I call a good use of an hour, I'm just kicking myself that it has taken this pandemic situation to make me appreciate it.No man is worth crawling on this earth.
