Morning DFVLovely dress.I think I preferred it without the puff sleeves addition, as the Queen wore it.The Queen wore the same outfit for the wedding as she did when knighting Captain Tom (what a lovely chap he is. He was quite flirty with Rachel Burdon on BBC Breakfast yesterday.) I love that pale minty green.4

Floss said:Well when you're 94, would you want to be bothered getting changed in the middle of the day? 🤣🤣Well, ask me again in 25 years and I'll let you know.If I'm as famous then as the Queen is now, my answer may be 'yes'. (walks away whistling)
ETA:
BTW, Floss, my comment was not meant as a criticism of the Queen if that's how you took it.
I watched an interview with Captain Tom and his family on BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning and was quite taken by the Queen's outfit because of the colour.
Then when Googling Beatrice's dress, I noticed the Queen's outfit - again because of the colour.
I didn't even realise that the 2 events were on the same day as you appear to be aware of.

DigForVictory said:Now Princess Beatrice has led the way, if you are going to donate a posh frock or a wedding dress, it may add resale value to include a snap of it in action with an event & date, so the bride can both make it her own but flaunt her fugal and fashionable credentials. Awed that she managed a small family wedding & wish her a long & happy marriage.
ETA: couldn't resist Googling the dress and Bea looks radiant. Love this pic in particular:

The ritual I had to go through just to do that was mental, I had to be booked in, the slots were every half hour, I had to leave my name and address, donations have to be taken to the back door., anyway I hope I remember to go tomorrow. When I called in to ask if they were taking donations I didn't bother looking around, I feel too uncomfortable in the current retail environment, I'm expecting to be told I'm doing something wrong, I don't know whether I can go in with my family so I'm just not bothering going anywhere I don't have to plus I am very, very resistant to wearing a mask. I think the government expected everyone to be so desperate to shop we would all flock there regardless and now they think it is that people are too scared buy imo it is because it is not a sociable and fun thing to do anymore. They do seem to have a very low opinion of the public, as I do of them.Me too.I must look like a rabbit in headlights.I studied a tray of beef tomatoes for (what seemed like) ages before picking up the one I wanted. Pre-covid, I'd have moved the top tray to see what the tray underneath looked like. For context, yesterday was the first time I'd been in a food shop for 6 months. It felt very strange.I feel the same about masks but I guess we have little zero choice.Last week I went into TKMaxx to return some items and pick up 2 more that arrived in store the day they closed. That was the first time I'd been in an enclosed shop, before then I'd just been to a garden centre a couple of times.I picked up a couple of beach towels on the way to the tills and when I got there I said 'I want to return these shoes'. That done, I said 'I have this order to collect'.Then I said I want these towels. He said 'how do you want to pay?'He could have been speaking in Arabic for all the sense that made to me.I hadn't paid for anything anywhere for 6 months (except online) and was completely lost.I finally managed to say 'Errmm - contactless?'He must have thought I was bonkers. It's been really hard.
We have been self isolating - later shielding when that was brought in - since early March and it's incredibly overwhelming outside isn't it.
I have left my house twice since we've been 'allowed' as shielders to have a walk around the block - purely to pick my dogs medicines up from the vets as once the shielders were allowed out they refused to deliver any longer. I have been in one charity shop (only the 2nd time as it only opened approx 10 days ago) in all that time and it's all one way, sanitise your hands, don't touch anything you don't think you'll buy (how is that possibly a rule in a charity shop? You have to check things in the very nature of selling them!), follow the arrows, don't double back, only 15 allowed in at a time, pay by card only etc etc. It's the only shop I've been in since early March and I'm already dreading having to go in supermarkets/other shops.7 -
Nipped into a local chazzer earlier and picked up 3 books for £1, and a stash of greeting cards for another £1.50. All unexpected finds, and I came away happy
Have been wearing a mask in retail environments since it was announced that they would be made compulsory in England, out of politeness more than anything else because its not for reasons of hygiene (its different in a work setting). I don't like them at all, particularly in the heat....all it means is that I shall visit shops a lot less now.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

May I join in please? I have been reading this thread with great interest for an awful long time and promising myself that one day I too would have something to post about and that day has finally arrived.
I spotted a Barnardo's open yesterday and looking through the door realised it was both clearly laid out and devoid of other shoppers so took the plunge and was rewarded with a very warm welcome from the member of staff and then found a hardback copy of Delia's Frugal Food first published in 1976 and republished in 2008 with updated notes. On paging through the recipes I found one that was published in Radio Times in the 70s and that my father made successfully many times, and that I've often looked for and never tracked down before, so I clutched the book firmly all the way to the till and there paid £4. If you encounter a copy do look at p196 chilladas, I recall them being toothsome and very money saving too."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

I dropped off a blue IKEA bag at my local Barnardo's yesterday, picked up a couple of books, a pure wool polo-neck sleeveless sweater and a pair of dungarees (for decorating!). I then nipped into Age Concern and found a pale pink Ted Baker lambswool jumper and a couple more books. Final stop was our local Blind Society, where I found a Hobbs linen shirt, Hobbs capri pants, a Crew Clothing striped top, a Gap fine merino sweater and an RHS china mug still in its box.
All shops were well organised, with a steady trickle of donations and customers in all of them.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
