Hello all
A few great bargains here yesterday and today.
A dartington gin glass, perfect condition. £1
A brand new box of next festive spice fragrance pot pourri £2.45
Two brand new boxed bone China Christmas mugs £2.50 each. One was Sophie allports Home for Christmas, which is £14.50 on her website. The other was a house of Fraser linea traditional Robin mug. This one was bigger, more for hot chcolate with all the trimmings. I think it will be an extra gift for OH as he doesn't have a Christmas mug either. ( now we both have). Very successful shopping. Also bought a couple of books by authors I like. ( I'm not supposed to be buying books) all for £10.
Loving all your finds guys.

Do anyone of you buy from a charity shop to make a profit? Just wondering?
No, I have thought about it, but I usually just donate any clothes I don't want back to the chazzers. I'm sure some people make some good money doing that though. I know people also do that at boot sales as the stuff there is often ridiculously cheap and they must easily make a profit selling it on.:)0 -
Poor man, hunted & came up empty handed. Whereas for me, Colne came up trumps again (refurbished YMCA, assistant grinned she “knows I like my pots”) has Denby Ode window display - teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl & cups & saucers all gleaming at me & within Acquisition Committee pricing. I went & bought papers to wrap (not wholly by chance getting an Iceland voucher as I went) & so I am home triumphant but still without storage boxes!
Oh yes & the freezer is reloaded for hungry teenage carnivores. The croquembouche looks loads of fun but the same money does chicken curries etc several times over.
A colleague’s wife empties her wardrobe when packing to see family, (other than a few favourites) and gives it all to family back home who find Next as exotic as Guicci. She then hits the charity shops again to refill the wardrobe with more nice pieces at penny prices & whatever doesn’t generate joy - takes a one way holiday. Her husband now buys pretty much exactly what he’s told & everyone seems very happy!0 -
Sis passed on something that was major news to me - her go to for nursing leather back is old face cream. When a tub gets to be a bit “er...” as to how long has it been open, she uses it to nurture shoes, gloves, handbags etc!
Have to say I have doubts about this on vintage bridle leather but she & I use different products for different kit!0 -
DFV - I feel like I've heard about using face cream before but I've never done it, I have little pot of leather cream, Lord Sheridans or something that I use in small quantities and I find that very good as is the Wonder Balsam stuff I use.
Miro - the leather on the reverse of my satchel is black, you can see that it is leather but it has a sort of sheen in places like it is coated, the only place I can see any cracking on mine is on the little straps that fasten it and a bit on the strap.
I bought a couple more things yesterday. I got a Monsoon corduroy jacket, denim jacket style with faux fur around the inside edges which shows a bit when worn, it has a quilted lining too - £3.75, also got a book of sheet music for crafting - £1.99.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hello Dolly
( your name makes me want to burst out into song). :j
Many years ago I was blessed enough to be in a beautiful part of Italy and I bought a really lovely weekend bag ? Think of a Gladstone bag but multiply it's size by about ten.
I asked the owner of the shop how I should take care of it. He reached under the counter and pulled out a massive pot of Nivea. He told me that he always used this for all leather and that he always gave a pot to those that asked about caring for leather goods. He never assumed. Just his style I guess.
A few years later I met a lady who was in the process of giving away (free cycle) her ten year old CREAM 3 piece suite. I swear it looked brand new. The students who were the recipients could not believe their luck.
And yes, you guessed it. She would wipe it with a damp cloth to get rid of dust, wait ten minutes, and then treat it with Nivea.AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo
According to a lovely poster I am Bala the Brave who wrestled a Tiger. You know who you are.....
I HAVE A GOLD STAR and A MEDAL and a Title !0 -

So yesterday I went to a local charity furniture shop which is always full of curios & really cool vintage furniture for really low prices & I got a 2-drawer skinny wooden sideboard shelf perfect for adding legs to to fill a really awkward gap I have in my living room & a £12!!! corner wooden bathroom cabinet with mirror that’s 1m tall! I’ve been looking for one of those for ages & they’re all hundreds of £ new!“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. TappingI'm finding my way back to sanity again... but I don't really know what I'm gonna do when I get there~ LifehouseWhat’s fur ye will make go by ye… but also what’s not fur ye, ye can jist scroll on by!0

I'll have to give it a go, I love the smell of Nivea so would be quite happy to rub it into my leather items.
Bought a couple of things today. DH got a pair of Mountain Equipment trousers, turns out they are very pricey new, we paid £4.99, got a Famous Five book I've been after for ages for 50p and a lovely wool blazer, it's an old one but not sure how old, Made in England, 100% wool, no shoulder pads so possibly not 80's, tiny checks in burnt orange, brown and dark cream, fits like a dream £5. I've been after a wool/tweed blazer/jacket for ages so I am chuffed.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Ha ha , I use Nivea for my face, furniture and shoes
Why not, its a moisturiser after all ( I hasten to add, I have one huge tub in the bathroom and another in with my cleaning supplies )
I also don't buy to make profit. I buy so we can afford better clothing at primark prices. Also as Im middle aged I guess, I no longer buy fashion as such, I prefer pieces that last, never go out of fashion, and those bits cost big money if buying new
Im going out looking this week for some really nice mugs for the daughter and SIL. I have their Jim Jams and fluffy socks bought for Christmas, along with the grandchildrens and intend on making up hot chocolate mugs, with the marshmallows and sprinkles and squirty cream and chocolate stirrers. I have two Disney character mugs here already for the GC
Also keeping my eye out for a desk and chair for the GD. I got her one here for our house and she loves it ( found on facebook ) so now she wants one for home0
