  • Not quite the same but I once donated some stuff to the charity shop, the following week I went in there with a friend. One of the blouses hanging up was one of mine, my friend picked it up and tried to convince me to buy it saying this is just your kind of thing and it would really suit you, I had to make some quick excuses and no, I didn’t buy it back!
  • Suzy Shier is a Canadian ladies store. Kinda like Dorothy Perkins. Not expensive, not cheap. Provides reasonable work and casual wear. Usually have great sales, so it's very rare to pay full price in store or on their website.

First time I've left the house in a week thanks to some 'orrible virus thingy. Glad I made the effort tho..... 2 bargains from the big Sue Ryder shop.

First thing I spotted was a bnwt Jaegar skirt, A-line and knee length with a copper coloured exposed zip at the back bound with leather. The fabric is a navy soft tweedy sort of stuff with blue grey splodgy bobbles and has copper metallic thread running through it. (I will never make a fashion copywriter!) Looks quite festive in an understated way. Was on the half price sale rail, reduced from £20 to £10. The swing ticket shows the original price as £160 :j:D

I tried it on and it fitted perfectly - on my way to the till I saw someone put a sweater back on the rail...had to have a quick squiz and it was a Brooks Brothers bnwt, crew neck 2 ply cashmere* sweater in a light bottle green colour. Size S and priced at £10. I think it is actually a man's sweater but I tried it on and it fitted OK so could not resist as I loved the colour. Had a look on the Brooks Brothers inter web and they sell for an eyewatering £330 - £360:eek:

Go on the bus to come home and had a coughing fit so bad I had to get off the bus and walk :(

    * Any cashmere experts know the difference between 2ply/3ply/4ply cashmere? (Apart from the obvious :))

Thanks FluffyDog - always intrigued to hear about unusual (to me!) brands. Wonder how it made its way to Essex!

Miro - those finds were well worth the coughing fit. I don't know the difference in the cashmere ply but I do know that it is graded A-C.

I love a cashmere bargain so very jealous of the brooks brothers jumper. At the weekend I got 5m of charcoal velvet upholstery fabric for £10. My other none charity shop but free cycle bargain is 4 sliding wardrobe doors and track for free. The doors are quite designery so I’m imagining very expensive

I've given things away on Freecycle but never actually got anything. I do like the whole idea of it though.

Yesterday I got two very sturdy wicker baskets, they are square and I think they were drawers in something once, there was a third one that was still in the back but at £1.50 each I just took the two, these will be used in my kitchen. Also got a pair of BN Clarks shoes, they are a 40's/50's style in patent leather with a mock croc finish in brown, leather lined, fasten with a strap and buckle sort of mary jane style, with a 2" heel - £5.50. Lastly a hanging willow heart with a smaller wooden heart in red hanging in the middle of it - 99p.
