Just wondering if you have found any inspirational ways of re-using these candle jars? I sometimes treat myself to one of those Jo Malone lookee likee/smellee likee candles from Aldi that come in beautiful heavy plain glass jars with silver lids. They are far too nice to just chuck away but after using several as storage/display for cotton buds/balls and other assorted stuff in the bathroom I am stumped now for ideas. The faint remaining smell of perfume puts me off using them as food related storage..... :(

    Apologies for going O/T:o

    - Plant pots
    - tea light holders w/decorative stones/sand
    - Dishwasher tablet/washing tablet storage
    - DIY sewing kit

I got some lovely c/s plant pots this weekend. I have yet to buy a new plant pot & I have over 40 plants in my living room!

miro - re the candle jars. I have two with makeup brushes in and so does DD, one with cotton pads in, one by the front door with lipbalm, lipgloss and handcream in, one holds pens, if they are the right type I will put a tealight in them, some of the bigger ones will hold a plant. When I have finished burning the candle I freeze the jar to get all the wax out then wash it.

For her 50th birthday a friend used Kilner jars on the tables but you could use these the same way. She filled them about an inch deep with sand and added little seashells and a curl of ribbon and a battery operated tealight. You could adapt that to a Christmas theme too.
  • M&S navy jumper and a navy and black New Look mini skirt from the £1 charity shop. I got a Jasper Conran burgandy jumper in there too. The jumper was in the men's section but it was a small so I will wear it.:D

I got a red knee length M&S dress in the PDSA shop.

I also got my husband a thick dark grey BHS jumper and a black hooded ASOS coat from there. They were the most expensive things but they looked like new.

I also got a little wooden cat statue for my living room.:A

I spent almost exactly £20 on all that lot.

I went in two more shops but didn't see anything else.

Many thanks to kboss2010, dolly84 and Footpather for the candle jar ideas....I knew I could rely on you lot for some good ideas :j I specially like the sand/seashells/tealights idea as I have loads of seashells, pebbles, bits of stone, coral and seaglass picked up as travel souvenirs over the years and it would be lovely to use them like that. Now to find some fine sand....pet shop maybe??

Back to business......today's find in the 99p shop was a Planet, unstructured, long jacket in some sort of crepe material in chocolate brown. Can picture it with cream or white jeans and an orange top, (might look like a liquorice allsort tho!:o) Now being washed ready to put away til next summer as my home weather station indicates it is currently 5 degrees C and falling:(

I also saw a lovely Fossil black handbag for £8 and an Emma Bridgewater buttercup mug for £5 but exercised self restraint.

Think I need restraints at the mo :o.....could not resist yet another black dress today in the Sue Ryder shop! B/N by Colebrooke (never heard of this make), 3/4 sleeves, princess seaming and a mid calf length flared skirt in a really heavy jersey fabric. Could just see it tarted up with belts/scarves/jewellery etc....not cheap at £9.99 but hey ho!! Also picked up a burnt orange t-shirt stylee top but in a nicer jersey fabric than usual, M & S and half price at 75p.

If it helps, the dress is by Windsmoor. A quick google suggests not cheap so I think you got a bit of a bargain :)
