Blimey...another 'Cos' find today - a grey marl, heavy jersey, sort of sweat-stylee jacket. Was swayed by the quality of the fabric. Actually most probably a man's garment, (either that or its from their giraffe range), as the sleeves are very long. Will try wearing it as is but may have to lop a couple of inches off at some stage. B/N and £10  in the Martin House Hospice Shop. Also got another pair of navy trousers :o this time winter weight Next ones with zipped pockets just under the waistband. Made the mistake of trying them on and they fit so well I could not resist even tho I have already bought another pair this week. £3.75 from the Community chazza.

Have brought a few goodies home with me today.

I picked up a Gisela Graham metal sign which counts down the days to Christmas with a little magnetic tag - £1.99 paid for this.

Got DD a Topshop denim skater skirt for £1 and a mens Ted Baker shirt for me also for £1, the shirt is really lovely, pale blue with white woven spots, lovely little buttons all embossed with the brand and contrasting fabric in the little v at the side seam, inside the collar and on the button placket (is that the right term?).

I got a YPsilon Donna brand jumper, one of those Made in Italy brands that crop up quite a bit, claret coloured, short sleeved and longer length, it's the type you wear over a long sleeved top, it has a pretty design knitted into it, it is wool and angora blend - £4. For DS to go away for his birthday a pristine Jack Wills hoodie in a faded red for £4.99 and a Hollister flannel shirt, checked in shades of green £3.99. Lastly DH got a Fat Face sweatshirt in grey, 1/4 zip neck, really heavy weight fabric with lovely fluffy back, knitted inside collar and cuff, again in seemingly unworn condition, more pricey at £7 but one of his favourite brands.

I saw numerous woollen things I loved plus a breton top and a pair of lovely trousers but I left them as I already have similar or I wasn't sure they would fit and I hate trying on in CS's.

Dd is home for the weekend and in search of books to read on her commute so £1 shop provided her with 5 for £1 including ballet shoes. Dh got 6 ties, 3 for £1 and I got 2 rolls of Laura Ashley wallpaper and a vintage cross stitch picture, sum total £1
  • A successful day today, though readers of a nervous disposition should look away when it comes to the pricing... bear in mind I was in a town right at the end of a tube line, in an affluent area. :exclamati

First of all in the hospice shop, a pair of knee-high Carvela boots for £10. These ones: https://www.kurtgeiger.com/women/shoes/boots/knee-boot/petra-black-leather-carvela-kurt-geiger

They are the exact right size, in lovely condition and I was VERY excited to find them.

Then I bought a pair of 'Faith' gold shoes, with ribbons instead of laces. Very glamorous, high heel. These may well be a mistake: I think they are going to be very uncomfortable. I bought them for Christmas day for £6.50. We'll see. I will redonate them if they are terrible to wear. I also wouldn't have bought them if I had known what I would find next, which was two more pairs of boots.

One pair I can see are TKMaxx (I can tell by the price scribbled on the sole - £30) - these are nice smart heeled low boots - front half are black and the back half are silver glitter! They were £12.99 as brand new. I suspect these will be boots to wear for Christmas, given how uncomfortable the Faith ones are going to be. I can't find a photo of them but they are similar to this: https://images.app.goo.gl/R77m7S2UzNMUhb4q6

And then another pair of black boots from a brand called Tamaris. They are unworn, with a completely clean size sticker on the bottom. I can't find the exact ones online, but similar to these. No idea why the prices are all in Bulgarian Lev - the brand seems to be German. https://tamaris.com/en-BG/bootie/1-1-25115-23.html#color=003 But they work out about £65 new. I paid £11.99. They are oh so soft and lovely.

And finally one thing that wasn't a pair of boots. A black blazer by Marella - my new favourite brand - that I could never, ever afford new. It is black with a thread going through it that catches the light, beautiful buttons and frock-coat length. Beautiful Italian quality. It came from the Haven House Hospice shop and was £8. I should probably sell it, but I don't want to!

So much CS excitement for one day! Happy weekend hunting.
  • Boohooman long sleeve t-shirts, were £8 on their website, £3 each from Marie Curie. Not that cheap, but will be an extra under layer during the cold weather.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

We've been out to one of our favourite haunts and picked up a few bits.

A BN pair of microwavable slipper boots for DD in very soft faux fur - £3.

A pair of Next dark wash skinny jeans for DS £4

DD got a vintage St Michael checked blazer for £5 and a BNWT  St Michael button through dress in black fully lined, little collar and lovely shell buttons £8.

A Famous Five book for £1 and a hardbacked compilation of Faraway Tree books for 99p.

A BNWT pair of People Tree handwoven trousers, grey slubby fabric, cropped with a turnup - £8, I do buy new occasionaly from People Tree as you know I try to shop sustainably and ethically so I know that these will have been somewhere near £90. A rare find.

My favourite item is a pair of Gap mustard coloured wide leg trousers in thick cotton, sort of denim weight, these have been worn turned up and have the lines which I love, they are super high waisted, tag in side says spring 08', I will wear them either turned up or just as they are with docs/chelsea boots and thick woolly socks - £4.50 paid.

  • I am quite new to charity shops. I now have 3 babies/toddlers in the family to buy for this Christmas. I would like to buy toys from charity shop, to get more for my money. But not sure if the parents would want 2nd hand. It's mad, because when it's out of the box, if clean and perfect condition, the child won't be bothered. Do any of you buy childrens' presents from charity shops, and are they well received?
