Last Thursday was the awful hot weather in London so I didn't end up visiting the charity shops when I went to Islington.

Islington is a gorgeous area, I wish I could live somewhere like that! It has lots of cafes and quirky shops and a very nice atmosphere.

I need advice from you lovely people. On Friday DH and I are taking 2 dds and a friend to Warwick castle. Dh and I are not feeling the need to visit as we went last year and whilst a lovely day out we can spend the day exploring locally. Of course that means cs visits so my question is are the shops in Warwick itself good or are there any local towns we should be aiming for and is there anywhere for a nice lunch you can recommend ?

Called into the local Mind shop this afty and found a lovely pair of black trousers, just the fit/style/length I like and seemed good quality, (were lined right to the ankle!). As new, in a wool mix by 'Pure Collection' and priced at £4.50. Chanted my usual mantra in my head....

Did I need them - no
Did I want them - yes
Were they a bargain - not sure?????

I vaguely remembered the make but couldn't quite recall if it was a premium brand or not so I hot-footed into the nearby library and did an internet search. Bingo...first result was the exact trousers currently selling in John Lewis for £120  Had to dash back and purchase them didn't I??

Also, Oxfam had a Laura Ashley dress that tempted me, blue flowered sleeveless fitted stylee with pearls around the neck and down the back. Priced at £6. The fabric was very shiny tho and combined with the itty bitty flowery patten I decided it was too ditsy for me so I left it *proud*

I can’t help you with charity shops in Warwick (hopefully someone will be along shortly with that info) but if all else fails you are only about 20 minutes by car away from Banbury which is ALL charity shops! I can think of at least ten. Cheapest parking is in Castle Quay multi story (but it gets busy).

Edited to say : also worth a visit is the National Herb Centre at Warmington (between Warwick and Banbury), it has a lovely little cafe for lunch.

Can vouch for national herb centre being a place of joy & enchantment (might have bought half a herb garden but had to lug it all back north & also ship tenagers...) and that Banbury had plenty to look into last I was there.

I always check yell.com when I go to a new place, although I have found the odd shop has closed.
I used to do the charity shop rounds in Warwick and a check shows Oxfam, AgeUK, Blue Cross, Children's Society, BHF, Air Ambulance & Myton Hospice in Warwick.

I also used to catch the bus to Leamington Spa.
There's quite a few shops listed there.

    A bargain yesterday:
New-looking & feeling Ben Sherman long sleeved blue and white striped shirt for OH.
    Really nice quality.
    £2.50 hospice shop.

I also looked at a Weird Fish short sleeved shirt in the same shop.
That was priced at £5.00 which I thought was odd as Ben Sherman shirts are priced higher than WF on their own websites.

Miro - those trousers are nice, my sort of style. I was in your stomping ground yesterday - Ilkley & Otley and have been up to Whitby today but that wasn't for charity shop shopping although I did look but didn't buy. Here's what I got yesterday:

A seemingly new Crew Clothing Coastal Fit shirt for DH, stripes in blue, this was pricey but he really loves this brand - £6.99. For DH again a pair of Fat Face Coastal Chinos in a tan colour, lovely cotton and in excellent condition - £5, a Tutta Natural linen Lagenlook style skirt in black, two layers and a floaty bottom £4.50, a book on my list of 100 books - £1.

In the St Gemmas 99p shop I got a pair of Next thick cotton pj bottoms in blue checks for DS, a Game of Thrones black t shirt with a wolf on for DD and a black The Godfather t shirt for DD and 6 dvd's for 99p.

For me a Crew Clothing navy blue sweatshirt with a zipped neckline, lovely blue and white striped fabric and velvet trim to the inside collar and the pocket linings and a pink cotton on the reverse of the cuff for turning back, these fit me so well and are super soft - £4.99

Lastly in the 20p shop a navy blue Red Herring cap sleeve plain t shirt.

Ooooh well done!! I was in Otley today but didn't find anything :( Did you know that the 20p shop has opened another 'branch' on the other side of the road? An odd assortment of food/books/candles and odd household things.
