miro - I didn't know they had another shop, I know a while back you thought they were closing altogether so I am always suprised to see them open. It's a funny old place, I don't know how they make enough money based on what they have in there.

Also, Oxfam had a Laura Ashley dress that tempted me, blue flowered sleeveless fitted stylee with pearls around the neck and down the back. Priced at £6. The fabric was very shiny tho and combined with the itty bitty flowery patten I decided it was too ditsy for me so I left it *proud*

Well, I totally misremembered this item. It was in the Martin House Hospice Shop and was a Monsoon dress, (no wonder I could find no trace of it on t'Interweb!!). Anyhoo, it popped into my line of vision again today and I decided to try it on and it fitted....so it came home with me. (Please could someone place an embargo to stop me buying dresses this year, I must have bought at least 8 summer dresses). This one was originally priced at £99 and is currently being sold on FleaBay for £62 ish. Thinking of spending the afternoon removing the pearl & bead trim around the neck as I think it will make it much more wearable for everyday and then will give it a quick hand wash.

A trip to the doctors meant I passed the local CS shop so I popped in. Found these for £4:

My first pair of Hotter shoes - I fear that as a brand they are slightly at the mature end of the market, but these are of course incredibly comfortable, look unworn and cost £4. :j

Also a pair of sandals from Next for £4.50. Brown with ankle straps and wooden clog-style soles. Definitely not as comfy and the faux leather is flaking off the straps. Maybe one to chalk up to experience. :(

And two skinny belts for £1.50 each in dusky rose and silver. Belts for cinching the waist in of dresses are always really handy and I don't want to spend loads of ££ on them.

Miro, I love those trousers and am very jealous. Enjoy!

Those Hotter shoes are cute and a bit vintage in style, I'd wear them.

    They don't look like Hotters.
    I'd wear them too.

Yesterday I bought a Cath Kidston mug with stylised flower pattern in bright colours.
    Used but no chips.
    £1.00 Barnados
    Retails at £12.00

I was in Marlow at the weekend, what a lovely town! Very pricey but a good selection of charity shops.
I bought the above exact style of egg holder for £3.99
I keep my eggs in a big wooden bowl but now I'll use this and the bowl will be rehomed with my daughter in her new house as a fruit bowl.

  • I had a little time to kill before an appointment so I had a mooch around the charity shops.
In age uk I got a very large scarf/wrap with a black background and peacock print for 99p, a monsoon top for £3.99 and a hoodie for £3.99
In Oxfam I got a next top that has lovely embroidery on it for £2.49 and a Laura Ashley t-shirt that has a ditsy print on it and an embellished neckline for £2.49.
A really good haul for the price. All having a swirl in the washer and then I'll iron them and get them ready for their first outings.

Got a Mason Cash small (9") mixing bowl in the community chazza today for £1.50 and in perfect condition. Bit puzzled tho....it doesn't have that fresh, newly minted feel to it but it hasn't got that crazed, scratched bottom of a much loved older piece?? Anyhoo, it will be far more useful than my existing humungously large one that I struggle to get in and out of the cupboard and consequently never use! This new-to-me one will be very handy should I ever decide to take up the reins of my Domestic Goddess pinny ever again, (unlikely).

Also got a pair of blue jeans in a non-denim sort of blue, (periwinkle??), from the £1 rail in the same shop. Labels cut out and reduced from £3. Just the right cut/style/fit that I like :j

Miro, we like Mason Cash too, & also when we find it. it's either adored to the point of barely usable or has been someone's aspirational piece! (If your domestic goddess is currently snoozing, that would be as your chazzer receptors are in full swing, and to have too many talents is no gift at all?!)

Himself was sent to get a pint of milk for his mother & strolled back clutching an assortment of things, the milk & a 4 pint Denby Bakewell lidded casserole in apparently unused condition. Not bad since its basestamp puts it at 1987 latest, but it is a pattern not many will love - largely murky brown. That doesn't stop the casserole aspect working Absolutely Fine!

Nothing exciting, just 6 DVDs for £1 (Red Cross) for a friend who's stuck inside post-op.

Another 6 DVDs/£1 from Red Cross and 4/£1 from Sense.
