DigForVictory wrote: »I mentioned I found & bought teacups recently? Today in Huddersfield I found their teapot. Frankly only a Denbyholic could love the shape of a sandalwood teapot! (Stratford collection, Pollycat, p92 top left)
What were they thinking?
However, when compared to Oberon, the Sandalwood teapot shape is beautiful. :rotfl:
Hope the capri trousers fitted.0 -

"of their time", shall we say?
New Scruffs black trousers, Sense shop, £1.75.
(I wonder why the Sense shops' payment terminals aren't Equalities Act compliant? They don't have a tactile PIN keypad.)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
TBH, I'm not sure that even this Denbyholic could love the Sandalwood teapot shape!

I had to look these up to see what you were talking about, I love that unusual shape :rotfl::rotfl:Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
Hurrah! The linen trousers Do Fit! Not quite to be seen in public unless definitely on a beach but these are garments with a very definite future - while they fit & clothe me, hurrah and as soon as they cease to achieve this, unbleached linen gets a Very Short life before it's recycled into something else...
For those without the reference volumes
Sandalwood teapot
& the Oberon teapot
Honestly, there *were* people who loved them. I quite like the way they hark back to the much early Denby but dear gods you need "delicate" hands to get in & clean them!
Are all sense shops payment terminals flat? As that's absolutely wrong & just a bit of clear tape with braille punched is an acceptable temporary fix...0 -
This is an Alessi girotondo biscuit jar & retails for up to £78.
Mine for £1.99 in Help The Aged... immaculate, as new, no crumbs or wear...Sorry - I keep shrinking the pic but it keeps growing huge again when I preview/post it...
It is large enough to put cake in...…..:D....& watch it disappear!Lurking in a galaxy far far away...0 -

On page 92, the Sandalwood shape is different to your photo - it's taller.
The handle (on both) looks very impractical.
Although I don't use a teapot, I think they should look like teapots.

Very Margo LeadbetterA kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Did Margot ever serve tea? I think of her with a glass in her hand & as for scrubbing out the tannin buildup, that would be for some treasure who comes in to do for her to do, surely?
I fear the teapot will require it's own storage box as the handle & spout stick out like the young Prince of Wales' ears.
They do look like teapots to me, but somewhat eccentric ones. Not the kitsch shaped things, but rather like designer clothes - you have to think a certain shape is normal to reckon that 'suits' or not!
As for Denby odd shaped teapots the assortment I found in Cleveleys included a Denby Camelot teapot that strongly puts me in mind of Aladdin's lamp!0 -
I haven't been reporting on my finds at the last few Nettlebed sales as most of my purchases (whilst things I really wanted and have been super pleased with) have been quite ordinary.
However, a month or two back I bought a wok which was a German make with which I was unfamiliar - but hoo boy, it cooks beautifully. It only cost me £2, and I have tracked it down online to be this one
I was therefore v v happy when on my last visit (Saturday before last) I found saucepans of the same breed. I snapped three of them up for a total of £10. They are the three largest ones from this collection0
