As per advice we spent time in Banbury today and I’ve got to say there were a lot of charity shops! Some of the prices were a little high but others were fab. A few highlights are a Boden cashmere cardigan in a lovely pink colour £3 a Laura Ashley wool coatigon ( I think they are called) in a blazer shape and mustard colour so lovely for the autumn £5. 4 Le creuset ramakins for £4.99 and then we went to a very large hospice shop where books were 6 for £1.50! So the complete works of Shakespeare, Freddie Mercury biography, nigella cook book, a book of common prayer and two other books came home with me. I also got a brand new boxed dog car seatbelt and harness usually £10 in shops for £3 and a fab serving bowl by crate and barrel who I think are an American company with a sunflower on for £5 appears unused as still has sticker on the bottom. Thanks again for the suggestions folks0

Today I got an unused Cath Kidston purse https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cath-Kidston-Wallet-Oilcloth-Button/dp/B07K48W3B9/ref=asc_df_B07K48W3B9/?!!!!!googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309909328989&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11450919507929116494&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046556&hvtargid=pla-698368891153&psc=1
A pair of pumps, brand new sealed in the pack. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Victoria-English-Elastico-Tintada-Sneakers/dp/B00C1ETG76/ref=sr_1_39?adgrpid=53537559552&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlJPWq4Hl4wIVBETTCh2ZlwFrEAAYASAAEgJv6PD_BwE&hvadid=259038193090&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9046556&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=2374768299048841811&hvtargid=kwd-358590803167&hydadcr=9009_1759074&keywords=white+plimsolls+men&qid=1564777223&s=gateway&sr=8-39
Both items a pound each, so I am very pleased.0 -
Dear gods - first Colne then Skipton.
A Bourne chocolate ware tankard pot from pattern & basestamp, possibly as early as 1895.
Denby jet stripes large curve mug (with a small chip I missed til I got it home, so no longer reference but useable!)
There was some confusion over the price but himself found & I fell for a genuine Barbour stockmans coat (& separate hood) - £60 (Ulp!) still with the labels in a pocket & brand new for £229 without hood - down to my ankles on me & I’m delighted!
Sons responses “hey Deckard!” & “Captain, when’s Serenity coming back?” - beloved nerds!
Couldn’t stop that kind of roll & nabbed a Muddyfox cycling top in lurid green with a zipped back pocket as well as twin bottle/kit pockets for bike mad son.
Then found a Denby birds of a feather John Morland Blue tit mug (somewhat over Acquiz Committee guidelines but I’ve only seen Morland’s work in photos before!)
The chaps are being heroic that I got the rewards & they’re lacking even a book or CD but are consoling themselves with pipeweed.0 -

Ooh well done for finding the Barbour coat.
I went to St Annes, on the edge of Blackpool today. It has got at least half a dozen charity shops, but they are not at all cheap. I got some linen calf length "shorts" which I wear all the time so would have had to buy new, and this exact elephant mug for two pounds fifty. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gray-Pottery-Stoneware-Made-In-Thailand-Thai-ELEPHANT-Cup-Mug-w-Tea-Bag-Pocket/302910371375?hash=item4686dd762f:g:yScAAOSwZPdbrYe6
I wondered what the little pocket was for. I cant think why anyone would want to shove a teabag at the side of their cup but I am sure I can get a few biscoffs in it.
I would have bought a dress, but ten pounds for a used high st dress is just bonkers.0 -
Dh and I have certainly hit the cs shops over the last few days. We set out to a garden centre (I think the plants must have had a pot of gold buried in the soil the price they were charging) and when we left there we went to the nearest town for a wander. It’s not a particularly affluent place (probably an understatement ) and we felt pickings would be light however we bought a hand knitted navy blue throw it looks brand new and will go beautifully in my soon to be navy and cream dining room, on my free cycle brand new comfy chair. It’s the sort of beautiful knitting granny’s do but plain in colour and very large £4. A shirt for Dh £2 and the most bargainous item a set of denby pottery for £2 for the set. Admittedly the teapot has no lid I got a very large jug cups saucers and other bits and I think it’s the chorus range.0

Looks a bit like this?
For £2 - that's Excellent & you'd be stunned at how interchangeable teapot lids can be. Or just a large cork!
um, geek: The Chorus pattern was designed in 1987. It is part of the Discovery Collection, designed by Rodney Endean. A ridged vertical pattern that is matt, glazed in a straw – cream colour.0 -
Yes dig for victory that’s the one. Just checked and it’s 5 teacups 5 saucers. Teapot no lid and large (much bigger than milk jug) jug. All seem good cond.
Forgot to say also went to a car boot today, we were late as I struggle with sleeping and didn’t get to sleep until 3am then awake for an hour at 6am then slept in until 10.30! Anyway we got there just after 11am and lots of people packing up so I got a Spode limited edition cake platter 20p a Jamie Oliver tefal large deep frying pan 20p and two like new joules hoodies for £5.50 the two.0 -
Having reviewed the pattern I take back what I said about easily swapped lids - that's a sort of oval, isn't it?! A large cork, a breadknife & patience will get a functional lid, but ebay will only do the whole thing and for over a tenner at present.
Husband pulled a blinder with paints, Again. He spotted a bag of paints etc for £12 - the oils, gouaches & watercolours, let alone the “interference medium” (3 colours?!) are easily worth £30 after pricing up 4 tubes (& there are rather a lot more some like that, 13 watercolours, 23 gouaches, 4 fabric paints & 4 metallic acrylics....)
Makes my pair of swing top bottles almost too unimportant to mention. Nice to have something elegant to store the rhubarb cordial etc in, though. [Only one of which survived cleaning. Dashed temperature differential.]0 -

Been away for a few days to Rome and have loved catching up on your bargains now I'm back. Some lovely things and I am very envious.
Just before I went away I landed very lucky and got two Long Tall Sally items. The first is a grey (I will call it Moonlight Grey) sleeveless top with one of those drapey cowl type necklines which I find super flattering, it is chiffon type fabric on the outside front lined on the reverse in grey jersey and the back is grey jersey, design to front in tiny gold sequins and a deep cuff on the hemline - £2.99.
The other item is a long sleeved blouse (bless LTS long sleeves) in very thin black cotton, round neck which sits quite high and has embroidery in a v shape in sort of canal boat style colours, the same embroidery on the end of the slightly fluted sleeves and then the bottom is a sort of very lightly gathered peplum style - £1.10.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
