No, I think it must be me.
I don't understand what you mean by 'better'.
    Cheaper?
    More stock?
    Better stock?

    Yes, all of those things.

Mine are not cheaper but are getting more expensive. I have had to resort to the tip re-use shop to get my fix, as things are definitely cheaper there. They sell different things too. There are only so many good quality dresses one needs. So I have bought myself a Singer hand turning sewing machine. Bargain at £10 from the tip re-use shop.

Mine have less stock due to all the new Christmas stock for sale, such as cards. No problem here with the tip re-use shop.

I was hoping it would be better stock with the run up to xmas in both locations but have not really noticed.

Unfortunately I don't need sparkly or evening wear as I don't go out. I am more of a good quality casual day person.

Picked up a rather heavy metal scrolled mirror. Fits perfectly in the colour scheme in the spare room. £3, but they had everything on half price. Paid £1.50 for the mirror and donated £1.50 to the charity.

    Barg!!

polly could I ask where u get your pink and purple ink from ? my dh likes calligraphy and he hasn't got those colours many thanks
    Hi tessie bear

It's quite a while since I bought them but they were from WHS and I think they were their own brand.
They came in a pack of 60 - 20 pink, 20 purple and 20 turquoise.
I've had a quick look on their website and can't see them - they just do packs of 60 black and blue, but I do remember the packaging.

Amazon do pink (Parker) but they aren't cheap.

What's one of those?? (Rhetorical question!)

We are not allowed to buy, sell, exchange, take anything from our tip- in fact I think you could be prosecuted, 'cos we would be stealing from the local authority!:(

Long ago we had a shop and it was brilliant. We are still using the £1 plastic dog beds!

Blimey! Husband staggered back with a dozen Denby Chatsworth plates for 7.50, an Ode coffee pot & jug as tall as it (3 pints at least!) & 6 Romany lidded soup bowls (£6) - I am so lucky!

You are so lucky having a tip re use shop..I wish all councils would do this. Where roughly do you live?

I doubt that in the run-up to Christmas you'll get any of what you are asking for.
Space is taken up by new goods - as you've already found.
Rows of black, gold or silver evening-style wear - which you're not looking for.
That leaves less space for stock too.

I think in general charity shops are getting more expensive.
One of our local hospice shop branches are very expensive, I've not bought anything from there for a long time.
F&F linen blouse for £7.50. Not for me.

I've got a pile of things to go up to the hospice shop and I've got stuff listed on ebay too.
I'll not be buying as much as I have in the past.

There is one locally, but I can't spend any longer at the tip than I absolutely have to because of the smell. I thought it was the tip itself, but was told by another poster that there is a sewerage in v close vicinity. I drive past the re-use centre on my exit, and see all kinds of things neatly lined up outside - usually chairs and kids' toys. But it does occur to me that you'd have to be financially very desperate to spend any time browsing.

Having said that there are a few good re-use centres in warehouses dotted around Essex. They sell quality seconds at very reasonable prices in a pleasant environment.
