Its good that people benefit from the merchandise, wherever they are.

3 books for £1 today, only really wanted one that was a pretty journal for writing goals / grateful diary. The two others were a Nelson Mandela biography and a coffee table book of amazing places to visit. I have a selection that are great for rainy afternoons with my little niece - we look at the pictures together and both learn something. I still remember some of the things I learnt incidentally from infant and junior school teachers and its ideal to cultivate an interest in the world early - its not the kind of general knowledge she'll ever pick up through the national curriculum in this day and age.

Aww, It's lovely that your making lovely memories with your Niece. She will remember these times :D

  • Nothing exciting today but very useful nonetheless.
From the re use shop at the tip:

Three lidded storage boxes and one box without a lid £3.

These will be very useful in the shed.

Interesting comments about the re use shops. Ours has a van which throughout the week visits all the council tips in Suffolk. It then brings back to the shop all reusable items to sell for charity. This helps the council as it reduces their government targets for waste by recycling and I get the chance to buy something secondhand at a sensible price. Lawnmowers, bicycles, TV's pots, DVDs toy's curtain poles and lots more!

Norfolk also does this but on a much smaller scale. The council tip staff putting resellable items in portacabin on the site they are donated at to sell straight away. Garden tools etc but nothing electrical.HTH.x

I almost escaped the lure of the chazzer this lunchtime, but not quite.

The local Barnardo's, which was open for a matter of weeks before it closed for "essential maintenance" a couple of months ago had a big Christmas tree in the window, which was being trimmed - the rest of the unit was empty though. I hazard a guess that it will throw its doors open again on Saturday.

I had popped into a local chazzer earlier, and come out empty-handed. On my way back up the High Street, I couldn't get a winter scarf out of my head, so decided to go back for it. I also ended up buying another claret Next scarf with furry pompom ends for my mum. Total spends: £2.

I got a Jack Wills 100% cashmere jumper today; cable knit, red, v-neck, just my sort of thing. It was £7.50 but it seems they start at £100 new so I was very pleased.

Going on a bigger hunt tomorrow in the main town. Maybe I should leave OH at home. :D

Traipsed round the charity shops in the town centre today - one had closed down, another was closed for lunch, so that left 7.

Got a Jack Wills knitted scarf, red, navy and white, for £4.99 BNWT. There's a theme here :D

I managed to find a nice Team GB hoody for my sister for only £2.25, and it's good quality/in really nice condition. I also bought her a £1 light up penguin for a laugh.

OH did come with me, and I think I'd have had a much deeper look/bought more if he hadn't. ;)

Phase Eight wool mix, asymmetric jumper, originally £59, currently reduced to £35, mine for £6 in the local hospice shop. Seems brand new. They're county wide and their main warehouse was recently flooded in an episode of vandalism along with the gym in the adjecant unit. Thousands of pounds worth of stock completely ruined.

Today I found a vtech toot toot fire engine that works with toys DS already has. £25 in John Lewis, I got it from Barnados for £2.99.

Oh and in the £1 shop a tickle me Elmo costume with voice box, age 12-18mth but looks big, so DS might get a wear out of it before DD. Only available in the UK via Amazon, currently out of stock. Otherwise it's only from Wal-Mart in USA. Might not have ever been worn from the look of it.

You did well finding something for £4.50 in the Overgate, I find them horrifically expensive and don't even bother going in anymore.

I was seduced by a M&S 'Best of British' tunic dress in Air Ambulance for £3.95.
Lovely fabric in a teal and black mix geometric pattern and fully lined.
I have a pair of teal opaque tights just the same shade and it will look fab with my black chelsea boots.
The Best of British concept was established to celebrate British manufacturing and design. Committed to quality and only using the highest quality materials the luxurious fabrics in this collection speak for themselves.
I also bought 3 measuring spoons in bright colours that have American cup measurements on them.
    £1.00 for the set

And a dark green wool hat, more dressy than a beanie hat but will still roll up to go in my bag.
    £1.00

Both from a local charity shop.

In the same shop, I did try on a fabulous dark grey Planet coat that was 78% alpaca, 22% wool in very good condition. The material was so soft.
If it had been 3" shorter I'd have snapped it up at £20.00

Or you could go back get it, and take it to the alterations shop and get the bottom 3" taken off and turned into a 1" belt.
