Hi.I have successfully stopped them from harassing me and closing the account by talking to a solicitor getting the solicitor to write a letter to them to say that when I took up the contract they lied to us by saying we could cancel any time in the future if we give them 28 days notice I used to pay £115 a month I have three missed payment on my credit file but the account is closed.

Go and see a solicitor. The civil litigation partner where I work sees many people about getting out of very difficult contracts with these dubious companies. There’s usually always something they can seize on.Yes it may cost you two or three hours work but I’d say it was worth it. If you have a small local solicitor try them rather than a larger business, they usually have more leeway with costs.

Kbrown0511 said:Hi Everyone, my wife was conned into signing up with Exemplar back in 2017, in June 2018 she realised what she had done and emailed them telling them she wanted the contract stopped and was cancelling the DD. She then was so embarrassed and upset that she hid it from me. In November 2020 she finally broke down and explained the whole situation and that a Debt Recovery team were wanting us to pay £3,400 for the 5 year contract that she had signed up to, even though at the time she explained to the Conman Salesperson that she only wanted 12 months for our daughter, he said yes that's not a problem obviously this was a lie.
I contacted the Legal Department of the Debt Recovery firm and explained what had occurred. They said because she signed up then she was liable for the full amount. However they were actually really helpful and explained that I should email Exemplar to arrange a phone call as they were not returning my phone messages and that I need to CC them into the emails so that there's a record. They also suggested I submit a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman which I've just done.
They explained because of the length of time now, we now have a CCJ against our name and that we have incurred charges, I'm fuming about this. Thankfully the Legal Firm have put a stay on our account for the next 60 days so as to give us time to get to the bottom of this, they did say should this take more time then as long as I keep them informed they can extend this Stay.
So I am waiting again today for Exemplar to ring me back. We really need some advice on how to deal with this situation as its now making my wife physically ill. I've noticed that someone has put a post up saying that they have a FB Page and if we need help we should join it, however i cant seem to find it.Hello
I have the same problem…..
we received a leaflet distributed by our children’s school.
We have a sales person come to the house. Me not realising that’s what he was. We thought he was one of the tutors who had come to test the children to see what stages they are at.He was with us for more than two hours .After everything we decided to go ahead and sign up to the learning programme. Before we did we asked the sales guy if we were able to cancel
if our circumstances changed. He told us to rest assure that this would not be a problem.
After a few months we came to the conclusion that the videos and the learning resource were out dated old videos and our children we just not enjoying them….
Time went by and we started to struggle with the payments .
60month contract and £6000
I contacted exemplar and explained that we were no longer needing the programme and could not continue with the payments.
This is when they told us that we had taken out a loan with a 3rd party company and they can not do anything about it . We needed to contact the Loan provider. They took a long time to give us this detail as the details of this was not on our documents .
I sent exemplar many emails and only one was replied .I then went on the trustpilot and commented about the scam and then the defended themselves .
I told exemplar that the sales man told us that we could cancel anytime. They said the would investigate .
the got back to me saying the sales man said he did not say that .
so I could not do anything .
we went to the CAB . The looked at all our documents and said we were stuck as it was a loan taken out and we would have to contact the loan provider .
we did this . They agreed to lower the instalments but did the for 6months.
we then contacted the ombudsman
they took 6 months to get back to us and said we can not do anything as exemplar have now gone bankrupt
the loan provider tell us to contact exemplar . Exemplar tell us to contact the loan provider
my boys left school last year in the lockdown . They then went on to pass away in a tragic accident which put a hold on all of my attempts to try and stop this somehow .
I just don’t know what to do!!
if I cancel the payments from my bank my credit score will suffer.
As many people have we have struggled in the pandemic and they still had no compassion
Does anyone have a solution to this0 -
BIGJIM_2 said:I bought this program for my two kids nearly three years ago. One was in Year 5 and the other in Year 7 (so 6 years and 4 years respectively from doing their GCSE's at the time of purchase, May 2017)
From the youngest's starting point to GCSE cost £3120 Maths and English Grammar. (This would be about 13 months in a tuition centre for 2 kids)
The rep said I could pay in 1 go or if I wanted to spread it out I could use up to 4 years Interest Free Finance. So I chose that. £65 a month (£15 a week)
I have attached the front of what is called the Customer Clarification and Satisfaction Form - the so called deceptive small print.
I bet 100% of people looking at it would know what I paid within 2 seconds even if I had not written the amount above.
Anyway this is what you do. (My kids do)
You log on and do an initial assessment. Obviously you will get some questions right and some wrong.
The system generates a list of lessons to be covered based on any questions that were answered incorrectly.
Now if it showed your child didn't know how to work out the area of a trapezium for example, you must be a mind-bogglingly stupid parent not to want to fix that problem if it has just been highlighted to you, unless of course you plan to write to the exam boards to get them to promise not to include a question on this.
So now you do the course that has been set.
Saturday morning log on and do some practice questions and watch the video. Log out. 30 minutes maximum, often 20.
Wednesday evening log on and do the test for that lesson. 30 minutes maximum, often 20.
Repeat. It really is that simple.
Eventually you finish and it tests you all over again and creates the next lesson plan.
You are constantly filling in gaps in their education until they sit their GCSE exams.
No going anywhere, no waiting for someone to turn up. No forking out £120 a month Tuition Center per child. No forking out £30 per hour to a tutor.
James
PS: This does not mean it is for everyone just because it works for me and my family.
PPS: If you use the finance option then you have 14 days to cancel from notification from the finance company that your application was approved if you use that option. They write to you separately. And you have to give your name, address, contact details, job title, employer, employer address, Proof of Income and Photo ID for the credit check so hardly a case of I had no idea I used Finance that some people are claiming0 -

Hi. I have the same problems with Exemplar Education. I opened a case in Glasgow Court. I need to bring more statements from parents being conned with leaflets in the school bags. If I win the case we can get our money back and we will be able to stop the contracts. I need the segments regarding the poor quality of the software, not helping kids, not following UK curriculum, lessons made in New Zeeland apparently. Thank you. I need your help this week. I already have 5 parents giving statements on writing and I upload them on my case files.Kbrown0511 said:Hi Everyone, my wife was conned into signing up with Exemplar back in 2017,

I was the one doing the job for my children and they are just taking the money. The recorded lesson is not working well for my children and no teacher to report this to. I sometimes do not know the topic and most often could not help the children. Also lots of repetitions in their work. No physical teachers that could help. They are scammers0
