  • I recently won a competition with these ppl, I saw it on a similar competition website as this one, I think I have won unlimited subscription is a laptop. Wondering now if it is real? I would never hand over any financial details. Typical!

I do hope you get it sorted.

I'm very disappointed to hear that your children's school circulated leaflets for what sounds like a disreputable company. I do hope you've told the school what's happened.

Yea, gods, that says it all about the school! :(

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)
  • Is it posible to cancel the exemplar education finance. I am also stuck for 5 years. The same I have received the leaflet from school. What can I do to cancel
  • Unfortunately I fell into the trap, and don’t know what to do to get out of it, I am a single mum and struggling at the moment.

  • Please share this poster with your local schools, colleges, family and friends. If you’ve experienced trauma at the hands of Exemplar Education or The Student Support Centre please phone The Times and/or your local BBC Regional News programme.
  • I bought this program for my two kids nearly three years ago. One was in Year 5  and the other in Year 7 (so 6 years and 4 years respectively from doing their GCSE's at the time of purchase, May 2017)
From the youngest's starting point to GCSE cost £3120 Maths and English Grammar. (This would be about 13 months in a tuition centre for 2 kids)
The rep said I could pay in 1 go or if I wanted to spread it out I could use up to 4 years Interest Free Finance. So I chose that. £65 a month (£15 a week)
I have attached the front of what is called the Customer Clarification and Satisfaction Form - the so called deceptive small print.
I bet 100% of people looking at it would know what I paid within 2 seconds even if I had not written the amount above.
Anyway this is what you do. (My kids do)
You log on and do an initial assessment. Obviously you will get some questions right and some wrong.
The system generates a list of lessons to be covered based on any questions that were answered incorrectly.
Now if it showed your child didn't know how to work out the area of a trapezium for example, you must be a  mind-bogglingly stupid parent not to want to fix that problem if it has just been highlighted to you, unless of course you plan to write to the exam boards to get them to promise not to include a question on this.
So now you do the course that has been set.
Saturday morning log on and do some practice questions and watch the video. Log out. 30 minutes maximum, often 20.
Wednesday evening log on and do the test for that lesson. 30 minutes maximum, often 20.
Repeat. It really is that simple.
Eventually you finish and it tests you all over again and creates the next lesson plan.
You are constantly filling in gaps in their education until they sit their GCSE exams.
No going anywhere, no waiting for someone to turn up. No forking out £120 a month Tuition Center per child. No forking out £30 per hour to a tutor.

PS: This does not mean it is for everyone just because it works for me and my family.

PPS: If you use the finance option then you have 14 days to cancel from notification from the finance company that your application was approved if you use that option. They write to you separately. And you have to give your name, address, contact details, job title, employer, employer address, Proof of Income and Photo ID for the credit check so hardly a case of I had no idea I used Finance that some people are claiming

  • Hope to warn other parents... I signed up to Exemplar Education for an online education programme for my children who are primary school age. I was naiive enough to believe the salesman who visited the house and told me " it's easy to cancel if you have a genuine reason like financial hardship or a health problem". His words helped ease my decision to sign up to a 3 year contract without realising that it is virtually impossible to cancel it!! My financial situation has changed (unexpectedly and for the worst) and I have tried to cancel and cannot!
I've called them many times written and received a final response.. I've reported them to Trading Standards and the CAB and now going to the Financial ombudsman for help.
So parents please be careful.. The leaflet came through the school so I thought the company truthworthy. Their customer services is a call back only service. No direct telephone number. If asked staff say they don't give the number out. That should give people an idea of what they are really like...

I know this sounds stupid.. Who doesn't read the small print.. At the time I was financially able to afford the payments so it was no problem.
    Exemplar are ruthless.
Hi, did you manage to get a result and successfully cancel the agreement? I have a family member who is also stuck and wants to cancel the agreement due to a change in financial hardship
