Well done on identifying the cause of the flies. Our thing is when mice get in the roof of the kitchen and the permanent traps take one or two. Somehow we get bluebottles so the bug zapper is always on!

Glad you caught the source of the fruit flies! We found some ourselves this week - source identified as a rather ex-sweet potato 🙄 Now dispatched to the compost bin!2

Morning! Thank you all
As to a lot to do, well, yes, my brother was horrified at the state of the garden, but we were already committed to helping the nephew in Kent. And I think bruv felt it was too much for him
and I'm afraid there's mould on the walls. But bruv was staying with my sister, when they called for me, they just needed hygienic bathrooms, which they got, so ... I'm letting it be. I'l start to use 10 minutes a day cleaning the walls after my next driving lesson tomorrow, the instructor's on holiday next week.
Since bruv went back home, yes - cleaning up the fruit flies in the spare bedroom, swept downstairs, put the rubbish and the recycling out, showered and shampooed, cleaned up the vacuum cleaner a bit, washing machine was on twice. Paid the dentist, they were very grateful! I even went a walk in the evening, the dog couldn't stop barking, and the longstanding cruelty distresses me.
Today, changed my bed, dishwasher has been on, polenta in the slow cooker, duvet cover is out on the line, a couple of towels to be done and I'm caught up. Then cook the beans I soaked yesterday, along with quinoa/barley/lentils/onions/herbs. Haven't touched the curtains I'm trying to make in over a fortnight, I'd really like to, and it would make me stay still - I have to be on form for a driving lesson at 10am tomorrow, which is early for me to pay that sort of attention 🙄 Though I'd like to do one more thing - the JO recipe in which I use crushed walnuts, I've found some ground almonds in the fridge 🙄 and I'd love to use those in that, its a very simple recipe.2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -

Back again 😁 I've done a bit of work on the curtains, done lots on the garden (the weeds are as surface as I thought they'd be) and - this sounds silly - I've organised the bookmarks I've been logging so that I can learn about driving and what car to buy and how to insure properly and all that. Finances: the money I brought back from France has now all been put into premium bonds, and rounded up to £2k, I've done the first part of the money shuffle (staycation meant I didn't pay attention till now), cooking the beans, polenta and almond/chocolate biccies has all been a great success.
Today's plotting:
- use the NatWest app, that gets me £1 for doing owt.
- make more almond/chocolate biccies.
- post birthday card to one of the Norfolk rellies.
- more weeding: green bin collection is tomorrow.
- finish the hem of the second curtain (doing this one neatly - it can be seen!) and pin the curtain tape to it, ready to sew this week.
- allow myself some time off - picking blackberries on the rec ground locally (got a dozen from brambles I was weeding yesterday!) and play with the genealogy paperwork. The generations really stretch out in this particular family - my great-great-grandfather was born in 1826!!!2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -

Hi debtfree, I *have* been busy
unfortunately, I'm not today, my back went yesterday - too much gardening too suddenly, I think. I couldn't make it to the council healthy walk, either. Still, for some reason I had a really good sleep, even though I woke up at 5am.
As far as the list I posted is concerned, I've done everything except the curtains - even picked some blackberries, and they're frozen now, so I can put them in a container. The almond/choc biccies, same recipe but different receptacle, they're almost like fudge, absolutely gorgeous 😄 I really need the jumpy smiley.
Today: curtains. For sure. Bit of a walk, to get out of earshot of the dogs, then car research.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
