I have lots of crowns (long story, result of a dental scam) and when I used to work, I often ground my teeth. Over the years they went flat and all the matched white enamel came away. Back in the day, my lovely dentist applied for, and got me a gold crown on the NHS on the grounds that I was losing the enamel coating. His partner filled a hole in that gold crown when Nick was on holiday and I never trusted him again. The next crown was a metal one (presumably stainless) so a real mish-mash in my mouth, along with hockey stick damage at the front where failed repairs have yet to be addressed.

Suffolk Lass, you poor thing!  I have several crowns, and it seems to be because when I was a child, the policy in our region was to fill every single thing you could - it wasn't at all unusual to go for a 6 month checkup and have 10 fillings a time :( When I moved out, miraculously, I had maybe one filling every ten years, and then nothing - everything since my 40s has been maintenance on existing work.

I've been adminning away this morning.
    - emptied dishwasher, put the laundry on.
    - took an hour or so, but my fuel utility company is saying I've submitted my readings, and "no need to check".  Ha!  I'll check tomorrow.
    - did a YG survey, very boring, but was offered another one too, took that, and I went 5 points over the £50 woo 🌈 so I got an Asda voucher, better than cash for me.  That took a while too.
    - baby HW paid out finally, £4, it went up to £19 something, so I withdrew £10 - I'll take another £5 next time.
    - Ancestry DNA have finally paid off with their "hints" - in this case, I'm the one with the information, which I'm very happy to share, but it gets me another present day link, and present day knowledge about other descendants.  And I'm **really** getting my information in order so I can send it to this new contact, starting with the family tree for that branch, mega amounts of work.  Lot of information, lot of work, but I'm chuffed.  In one generation, they went from Irish Famine refugees to circling the world - Scotland, England, Canada, USA, South Africa, they were amazing.
    - still haven't sent £5 travel money to my sister, will do that as soon as I've finished this post.

Today: I've recovered from the dental non-trauma, so I need to:
    - send the fiver to sister, and tell her what it is.
    - confirm next date for spaceflight group.
    - use up the sweet potatoes sitting in the fridge.
    - peg the washing out.
    - do some weeding, quick! Just pulling up some of the annuals would be a start.
    - clear the porch, which is full of tins to go into the recycling, shoes to slip on in haste, post that's yet to be read, paper that some nonsense people are still putting through the letterbox, blah blah blah.
    - I'd really like to use up some flour, or some polenta.  In some alternate universe, I'll do both.

It wasn't just your area with the dentists.  My fillings had fillings by the time I was 12.  that was greater manchester & in my 30s my dentist in the forest of dean said it was normal practice at that time.  That is when the crowns started.

I was ignoring the bridge which is in desperate need of replacement, the final outcome of a lot of work & not helped by several fevers at a young age which damage your ungrown teeth.  I was really interested to discover that scarlet fever now just needs antibiotics.  What a difference from the isolation hospital I was in

It's amazing to think how far dental treatment has come!  And nearly all forms of medical treatment, actually.

I ignored my "to do" list today, oops. I've just focussed on finishing, more or less, the huge family tree spread across four sheets of Excel, encompassing hundreds of people.  I haven't put in the spouses of my generation of first cousins, or their kids - that would be about ten sets of grandchildren, and they just don't need to be in there right now 🙄🤣😮👀😎🙃  My brain is slightly fuzzled, I must say, but that's a big, big job, and it makes the biographies of these people a lot easier to do, because I have that to work on as an anchor.

I may try to redeem myself by cooking chunks of sweet potato in the microwave.  That's it 🤣

I kind of managed the to-do list that I posted on 30th June, though I haven't done a single piece of weeding - the back garden is horrendous, really really bad.  But I've gone gangbusters on the genealogy, there's holes in everything still, but it's coming on.  And I've been binge-watching Sewing Bee - Series 1 🤣

Today: baby HW has gone well, and I have a driving lesson!  The guy will want me to drive away from the house, I'm sure, but because I had to miss last week's, I don't think I can do that.  Shower and wash my hair when I get back, relax a bit, we'll see.  There's enough for me to do here, that's for sure!

I saw Squirrel had done a calc on his latest Net Worth, so I had to have a go too, of course 👀 and actually, it was okay.  Changes:
    - the 10% uplift in the pension, embarrassingly, is having an effect.
    - I have enough premium bonds, about halfway through the possible amount, that I often win *something*.  £50 this month.
    - I had to do lots of faffing about with the French tax authorities, and in the process learned that the French housing market has recovered somewhat from its 50% crash after the financial crisis of 2008.  I don't know how much, but I gave it a 15% uplift (bought for E120k, I was listing it as E50k).  2008 was a long time ago.
    - my own house, when I was thinking of selling it, I went on to Zoopla, the price range was £386K to £427k.  Mine is low-end.

Less the fees for the glasses, the driving lessons and the dental treatments, none of which have come out of my pocket yet, my absolute NW total, including my current account 🤣 is redacted, sorry.  I find that a bit un-nerving 😮
