Morning
so, life goes on, the best thing is that my sister's sent me a few short whatsapp videos of her little granddaughter, which was great to see, between the crawling and the standing and the kissing the phone ❤
Got to do another lft test today, but its a new batch, well in date but older, so I have to read up and watch videos and whatnot.
YG have been a bit odd - ages ago, they didn't award me the correct points for a survey, I let them know and they came back pronto, with the points. Then a few days ago they *also* answered the email, which they hadn't done before. And today they've sent me an email apologising for emailing me. All very oddI did an ordinary survey a couple of days ago and got the normal 50 points, but otherwise they're a bit haywire at the moment.
Otherwise, pootling along, and I've been faffing about with genealogical biographies of a couple of family members, trying to sleep, trying to tidy up a bit. Absolutely nothing interesting!2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Did an LFT yesterday which gave a negative: but I also read on here, a few days ago, that the older LFTs don't pick up Omicron very well. Hmmm. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and buy some tests.
Did another YG survey, they seem to have settled a bit.
Paid French management fee - I'm definitely going to bring over some money, though I'll have to check if Brexit has changed the way I need to do it - there's £11k over there! Some of that would be a lot better sat in PBs. Downloaded the documents, to keep up to date, and I need to know when I pay the French tax, which is annual.
Completed the money shuffle - I'll check on it tomorrow, should be fine. I'm going to do a Net Worth assessment over the next few days.
Asda: reading Martin's newsletters, I think I'll do the Christmas money thing this year, plus I signed on to Asda Rewards. I don't understand how to do it online, but I'll have a go.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
I’ve lost track Karma but imagine you’re probably not infectious now - it’s been a while hasn’t it?
Definitely worth finding out how to get the money over from France! And quite possibly there are beginning to be better places to put it than PBs now too?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Two weeks and two days - symptoms popped up on Wednesday 10th. I have an up to date test left, as I bought two to board the ship. It'd be good to know. I have a U3A Spaceflight group booked for 6th September, and we'll be doing that completely on zoom now - we'd have needed it anyway because one member's in Sweden.

Blimey, 80%. That's a lot. Nothing to do about it right now except do that little list from yesterday evening, do some tidying here (not much), walk round the block, and hopefully phone brother. One thing I might do instead of tidying is try to put some sealant down at the top of the skirting boards, there are massive gaps, and fair draughts from them.2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -
Happy new year and some great goals!0

Money shuffle was fine - I also transferred some of the reward money from the bank into my current account. Hmmm, its not really a reward - it's a reimbursement of a debit they take. Hmm.
Anyway, Net Worth, in spite of the expense of the holiday, has gone up, "only" by £3k, but I expected it to be down by that amount, so I'm happy. It comes from a couple of matured cash ISAs, the French rental, and the fact that I still put £300 into regular savers every month. In fact, I have so little money outside tax-efficient wrappings, I *need* to bring that French money back to the UK
So, a bit of a to-do list:
- bring French money back to UK, with the same firm I used to use to send money out there.
- two small ISAs have matured/aren't worth keeping, got to resettle that money as soon as possible. Another fixed one is hopeless, but I can't move it yet.
- find more of my share certificates for the shares outside an ISA, ridiculous to have them wafting about the house somewhere.
- do I need to cancel my current Regular Saver and find a better one? I'm pretty sure the rate is abysmal.
- gather up the foreign currency I didn't use and get sterling back from the Post Office. Loadsamoney.
- I owe my sister - some for the fishing boat trip to the glacier, some for the birthday present from last weekend. She won't take any money for the AirBNB, which we booked together.
- check on my pension funds - didn't manage to do this this afternoon, though I'm very pleased at what I *did* manage.
- I have some old-style sterling notes, they need to be exchanged by the end of September, that should be okay. No idea how much I have, because of all the palaver around the foreign currency for the trip. Greenland has "home rule", so to speak, and uses Danish currency, so I have Icelandic and Danish money coming out of my ears.
I also need to get some quotes for things to be done in the house and garden: repair plasterwork, repair mortaring between paving, buy a sofa, and buy some footwear - I'll write about that another time, I'm tired after all this financial stuff, but it needs doing. As does a routine visit to the dentist, which is no longer routine for me, and hasn't been since Spring 2019! Pandemic got in the way.
Anyway, very happy with what I've achieved today - and it gives me the feeling of a proper bank holiday coming up2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -

What Beanie said - don’t go overboard just because you’re feeling better today. A good list to move forward with though.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks both! Honestly, I only felt a bit stretched in the last ten minutes - I was sitting down in my usual armchair the whole time, and I had very little brain fog. The to-do list is, literally, for the future, the next month or so. Tomorrow, I'll be talking to my sister, and having another walk round the block. One ambition for tomorrow is to use cleanser on my face - my skin was lovely when I came home, all that time outside in cold, pure air, but its really quite grim now
Off to bed now though.2023: the year I get to buy a car2
