😛 it looks delicious on the linkie, but *so* much work - loving your shortcuts, SL. And very good news that Ed's teeth (and yours
) aren't in danger! The rec ground outside my house is used for community events twice a year or so, and there's going to be one on the Jubilee weekend. They're a recent innovation, haven't taken off that well, as they're in between two huge community spaces, but it's good for the little kids.
There's a piper, a beacon and fireworks round here on the Thursday which I'll have a quick look at, and more importantly the Village Day on the Saturday, I'll definitely have a proper look at that. I might see what ingredients I've got to adapt to the Platinum Trifle 🍦2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Finally checked about how much I'm now entitled to since Sunak did his thing. I'll be sent the £400 grant that everyone's entitled to, plus a one-off top up of £300 as I receive the winter fuel payment. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Just £400 here. The house was put in Council Tax Band E when we bought it. We have sold half the plot and removed at least 2 outbuildings but it's still Band E so no £150 for usSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Gosh SL, that's striking that the plot is downsized so radically and it's made no difference to your council tax band
sorry to hear that.
I'm poking my nose out into the world for the first time since the pandemic, looking at going on this cruise at the end of July, and while the cruise itself is being lowered in price, it sets sail from Liverpool, so that's a train ticket. Hundreds of pounds, hundreds. I'm shocked, actually. I'm going to get a Senior Railcard, and I hope it arrives in time; I'm going to get a three year one, I think, and hope I have better luck with it than my mum, who only got one use out of it.
Just done the Happy Wheel, won 4pand I've made a list of stuff I need to do on my phone. Back later with a ta-da list.

Train tickets are completely shocking! Costs me the same to go to the office 3 days a weeks or 5 days a week - I can save 25% of that cost to go in 2 times a week - at the moment who knows what is happening with the strikes! We may or may not have train service at my station!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! OMG, the strikes! I'll have to check on those - for the first time ever, we're thinking of travelling up on the day, so it would be a catastrophe to be delayed by hours and hours. I'd better do some research about national rail travel, as opposed to commuting. Completely forgot about that, thanks RT. Taking part in the world again is very tricky.
Ta-da, such as it is:
- bought a senior railcard, it's digital so immediate.
- phoned bro, he's very busy, it was good to catch him when he *had* to sit still to recharge son's car
- tidying. again.
- decisions on the holiday and the visit to Norfolk for rellie's birthday.
- had a walk.
MUST DO:
- carry on tidying, sister will be here tomorrow for the booking session.
- try to repot the courgettes today. It's time! I'm not good at doing what needs to be done *when* it needs to be done.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
We've done it ... holiday is booked, the train from London is booked, and a hotel in Liverpool is booked, so that we don't have to get up at 5am on the day of departure. Worth it, to avoid the stress and the worry of too-tight timing. So now, it's about:
- research the destinations (quirky definitely seems a good description of Iceland 😮 in a good way)
- book train journey to London
- make sure I have an appointment with the restaurant people, because of my weird allergies and inconvenient preferences.
- get passport info to the online booking.
- alter Asda order, get travel snacks and instant porridge for hotel room.
- most importantly, get travel insurance!
Our first stop is Belfast so we're going to the Titanic Museum - and I've been sorting out the information and documents I have on my distant relative who was a crew member that died. Finally found his wedding, too.2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
How exciting for you KC to be going away. Just remember to pack sensible shoes as going around the Titanic Quarters is quite a walk if you want to see it all. We've been there and we loved it but we didn't go into the museum itself because it was absolutely packed the time we were there. We actually went over to Northern Ireland to dog sit, yep dog sit 😃 so we didn't get to choose the timing of our visit during the summer. Not perfect timing but it was a great break away especially looking after the little dog 🐶 and, Northern Ireland is lovely.
